Please let us know and perhaps we can go further back for you.

I was thinking last night the marriage of Lawrence could be to Mary Hagan and I tried to look her up and the only one I found was a Mary and possibly her sister down as boarders but with no parent/parents.

Will see if I can find it again and put it on here.

If I have the right Florence Rowan she died when she was 34 in sept 33 , which would explain why the children were placed into care, i cant find her birth registered anyway under florence lydon which would have been 1899

thanks patchem I think she was registered under florrie ...thats what is on the census

patchem Report 19 Apr 2013 07:11

It may say Florrie on the census, but it is quite likely to be Florence on the birth registration.
You stated that she was Florence when she died, and that you were looking for Florence Lydon.
Did she marry or die as Florrie?
Censuses often record people by their commonly used name, not by their registered name.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Apr 2013 18:24

Trouble is now you need to buy the marriage cert now for Lawrence and Mary Hagan to find their fathers names.

You have been given thier details so let us know and perhaps we can get further back for you.

Hi,
I am the daughter of John Rowan, born 20/101928. My father passed away 2/11/2010.
My fathers parents were James Rowan and Ann Florence Lydon. He had 2 brothers and two sisters
James deceased 9/1/68, Mary Kathleen (we knew her as Aunty Kath, deceased 6/5/85, Ann Florence (we knew her as Aunty Flo), deceased 14/6/92 and Uncle Vin.
My father told me his mother (Ann Lydon) died giving birth to Uncle Vin and his twin. Vin survived and the twin and mother passed away at birth (???)
My dads father (James) looked after the 5 children until he had an accident - fell into a vat (??accident caused death). The children were sent to an orphanage (except James). Sisters of Nazareth Orphanage - the boys in one and the girls in another. They only saw each other once a year.
My father and Uncle Vin immigrated to Australia (10pound poms).
Uncle Vin did not marry or have any children
My Dad (John) Married Particia Elaine Gibson and had 5 children
Anne Florence, Gwendolyn Lesley, Jacqueline Yvette & Gregory John
Please let me know if I can give you any further into
Cheers
Jacky
