Welcome to the boards, John.

Presumably this one:
Births Jun 1910
LANCASTER George Leigh 8c 318

Where have you looked for records - do you know who he married or when he died?

Added:
There is also this one:
Births Sep 1911
Lancaster George Brown Leigh 8c 508
and probably more, so looking for marriages will be difficult without further information.

Yes:
Marriages Sep 1935
Lancaster George Leigh Leigh 8c 679
Marriages Dec 1935
Lancaster George Barrow Leigh 8c 440

George Lancaster from Leigh, Lancashire married Cecelia Leigh in Leigh, the other one married Miriam Barrow (from Barrow??) :-)

What 'records' do you have in mind?

Also........the places you suggest for birth are a long way apart.............

Start by checking LancsBMD

http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/

and/or freebmd

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Was he your direct ancestor? Please tell us all you know....................

Astra Report 3 Jul 2013 15:15

PM from John. Have asked him to return to this thread.

Married 3rd July 1935 his address at that time was 119 Warrington Road Leigh. he was a cloth Looker, his fathers name was also George he was retired colliery Fireman.
we are led to believe George Junior was killed in the second world war, but no record of that. all we have is his Marrage Cert. with Cecelia Leigh.

ErikaH Report 3 Jul 2013 15:20

No record of a death for him on the CWGC site.

Could this story have been fabricated to cover-up possible abandonment of wife and child?

Here he is in 1911

Sorry, Astra, just realised you'd posted the census some time ago........

I wonder why the OP didn't comment on it?

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 3 Jul 2013 15:23

if that 1911 census is correct the other children show mmn as Boardman as well so this is probably George's parents marriage

Marriage: 26 Dec 1896 St John the Evangelist, Pendlebury, Lancashire, England
George Lancaster - 25, Collier, Bachelor, 54 Stapleton St.
Annie Boardman - 23, Spinster, 6 King St.
Groom's Father: James Lancaster, Bricklayer
Bride's Father: Robert Boardman, Pattern Maker
Witness: William Lowe, (X); Mary Lowe

ErikaH Report 3 Jul 2013 15:26

In a PM to me John says George was his father

John's birth was registered in 1946, which was after the end of WW2

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 3 Jul 2013 15:29

again on the assumption that 1911 is correct family

father George died in 4th April 1943of 86 Dakins Lea Leigh

I have advised John how to post on the thread so I can't understand why he is still sending PM's.

It's Ok Reggie about re-posting the 1911. We weren't sure if it was correct until we heard from the OP.

Astra

Astra Report 3 Jul 2013 15:44

So if he is George's son born in 1946 was his mother Cecilia? Or had the marriage broken down then.

A little confused.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 3 Jul 2013 15:56

The MMN on his birth is LEIGH

John

John Report 4 Jul 2013 08:44

John Lancaster was born in 1945, not 1946. his mother was Cecelia Nee Leigh.
i don't know what happened to his Father........it is a mistery, one wihich we would like to solve.i could not find out anything in the War Records, you may be right , his father might have abandond his mother and him. Did he get remarried? when did he die and where?lots of questions?????? we know he married Cecelia in 1935. we have the marrage cert.
Wife of John.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 4 Jul 2013 09:09

Wife of John..........

Please note.........I didn't say when John was born..........only when his birth was registered

Birth registered 1st qtr 1946, which would be the case if he was born in late 45, and the parents didn't register until January

If you purchase George's birth cert, you will learn his exact DOB.................that info can be used as search tool to try to find his death.

If George re-married, it could not have been legally, unless John's mother divorced him.

It would be good if you commented on all the info people have found for you

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 4 Jul 2013 09:11

This would fit in with info found so far............

County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1991
Month of registration: August
Date of Birth:1 June 1910

When you get the birth cert, you'll be able to cross-refer

John

John Report 4 Jul 2013 09:13
