Unless the information you are happy to share is about a living person, its best to reply on your thread. That way people know that you have read the answering posts ;-)

Unlike Australian (& Scottish?) DC, UK ones don't give the names of the deceased's parents. Civil registration in much of the UK didn't come into being until 1837, too late for Richard + many Irish civil records were destroyed in the early 1900's.

If you can say when his child moved to Australia, he may be listed on Irish census with family which could give Richard's place of birth. Then you can look for baptism records

Kerry....

www.census.nationalarchives.ie is the link for 1901/1911 Census...

Look at the Death Cert for Richard and see what No. The Pike (aka Pike St.) he was living at the time...
Have brought your PM across...for ref.

"The Cahill Family is Matthew (b)1871 Annie(b) 1873 And Sarah (my Grandmother)(b) 1881 all came out to Australia on the Jumna 1899.Mary Cahill (Nee Jordan) My their mother came out 17/10/1901 on the Duke of Sutherland ..
Duke of Sutherland I think it would have been after Richard died in1901.Her other son John Cahill came out 19/5/1886 on the Roma,Her daughter Mary came out on the 14/8/1886 on the Quetta she was with her brother William.Their is another daughter Honora but can't find when she came out. Other family is Bridget 1867,Catherine 1870,James 1860.All of these children did not come out too Australia

Kerry...
If Mathew went out to Aus.then he cannot be the Mathew on 1901/1911...although its strange he is a Boot and ShoeMaker and his eldest boy is named Richard....The aforesaid Mathew died in Thurles 1930s

Mary Jordan Cahill doesnt show on the 1911 Census for Thurles.....

Kerry Report 9 Jul 2013 04:17

Hi Eringobragh
Iam sorry if I have said it wrong but Mary Jordan Cahill was here in Australia on the 17/10/1901 so she would not have show up on the 1911 Census.I think when Richard died march 1901 Mary decided too come out to Aust too join her kids. Her boat arrived at Brisbane on the 17/10/1901 and that is about 8 mths after Richard Died.
As for Matthew he arrived in Brisbane in 1899,But I have check with everyone I know in the family that is related too Mathew and they don't know what happen too him I have check the Aust Census and voteing list and no sign on him.I have check marriages no luck so I have taken it that he might have gone back home when Richard died. Sadly Aust don't have any departure records.
The Mathew you have told me about sound's like him His Brother William (Died here in aust) was a shoe maker also,I would not count out your Mathew. You have given me much hope and I do thank you very much ;-).Please let me know if you come across anymore info.

Kerry....Your doing just grand....!

If you have a look at the 1901/1911 Census you will find a couple of Jordan families also around the Pike /Quarry St areas ...dont know if they belong to Mary....
Pike St.and Quarry St ran/run parallel to one an other...(East Thurles) names changed over the years...Pike St.renamed Kirkham St and Quarry St. became Mitchell St....
There was a James Cahill (Shoemaker) and William on Quarry St..1850s dont know if theres any connection there....
Have you Richard and Marys MC.....?
If they came from the Quarry /Pike area then I imagine their Church would be The Cathedral of the Assumption....

I NEVER expect anything for nothing but I do under stand it sometime cost to find things out. Anyway getting back too Richard I will just keep looking and Many Thanks for Your Time Iam very Greatful and that goes for every one on here that helps. and Keep in touch.
