Hi, could someone lookup an Arthur Law I have checked and have found him born Lyminge age 38 living elham dist Kent. I would like to know who he is living with. it says he married in 1902. I have an Ernest Law born 1913 to a mother 'Butler' but cannot find a marriage of a Law/Butler . I have a butler family in the 1901 in Folkestone and a Law family in cheriton with an Arthur.

Hi, thank you everyone for your fast replies! so this really eliminates this Law! I also noticed there was a Hubert J Law born march qtr 1912. to a mother butler. Now a butler family living in Folkestone in 1901 had 4 daughters Mary, Edith, ethel and Lydia. I found a marriage for a Lydia, so eliminated her. as for the other 3 I found an Edith age 31 in elham dist in 1911 not the other two. and also found a James Hubert Theobald Charles butler age 11 in elham dist! be interesting to know who they were living with especially with the Hubert name!

Exactly who are you tying to follow?

Hi again, I have just found marriages for Mary ann butler to either John Barber or joseph tiltman so that should eliminate her! also found a marriage for Edith Mary butler to either Ernest Hurst or Frederick Godsell. Also found a marriage of an Ethel Grace Butler in 1907, but it doesn't give any other names as to who could be the spouse! would still like to know who the James Hubert butler was living with as this would seem to be some connection with that name

I am looking for the parents of Ernest Law born 1913 elham dist on the freebmd his mother is put with surname Butler. another child was born 1912 Hubert J Law . I haven't found a marriage for a Law/Butler and also no other children after 1913. Ernest was my son's grandfather and I knew him and that he was born Lyminge and lived in this area all his life died woodchurch kent 2000

Dawn, if Hubert and Ernest's mother had been previously married then you won't find a Law/Butler marriage as it would be recorded under her surname from her first marriage.

The children's births would, however, show her maiden name.

The only way to be sure is to buy one of the birth certificates.

Looks like you will have to buy his birth cert as not seeing a possible marriage

Hi thanks Marie, but surely there should still be a Law/butler marriage even if the mother had been married before? I have greatgrandfather who's mother was a widow when she married his father but on the marriages on the freebmd her name was her married name not her maiden name, I found out her maiden name when I got the certificate.
