The woman registered in JFM 1921 had a sister

Does that match what you know about her?

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 10 Sep 2014 22:36

Marriages Jun 1920 (>99%)
Currie Georgina Long Chorlton 8c 2809

I am not sure about her siblings ,sorry what is JFM
Thanks

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 10 Sep 2014 22:39

There were four likely births during the marriage to Hodgkinson

JFM = January, February, March = the quarter of the registration of the birth you think is hers

Which of the sons was (or is) your father?

michelle

michelle Report 10 Sep 2014 22:42

Born in February

The 2 Salford births are children of the second relationship if you look at the bmd references.

Michelle,

You can order certificates online through the GRO. They cost £9.25.

patchem

thanks for the elucidation, I must admit I hadn't seen the double entries.

Should they be on here, though?

The death for Eleanor Hooson which someone posted seems too much of a coincidence not to be the right person.

Don't place too much reliance on actual dates quoted, as they can easily be wrong.

II were you, I'd get a copy of that cert.

It would be worth spending £9.25 to get a definite answer

The maiden name will be recorded, and the person who registered the death may be related

Both the later children are with Eleanor/Ernest in Australia in the 1970s. Don't think their birth certificates will be of any use in proving this is the same Eleanor as your grandmother. You need the second marriage certificate to check her father's name, and her birth certificate for exact dob. Without the marriage cert it is not possible to be certain this is the same lady.

Western Australia has a 30 year closure rule for death records and 75 years for marriage so don't think we'll be able to find her death (she may even be still alive) or her children's marriages.

Need local newspapers, but I'm not coming up with anything and don't really have much experience of Aus records.

This is the birth of the Hooson who died in Australia

Births Sep 1920 (>99%)
Hooson Ernest Voyce Prestwich 8d 524

The other one married in 1951 in his birth county of Yorkshire, and died there in 1997

The death previously posted was for Eleanor Hodgkinson, I think this could be her birth:

Births Jun 1921 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Geldard Eleanor Traynor Stockport 8a139

There is a marriage in Stockport in 1945 to Mr hodgkinson.

Thanks Flip

I was on the wrong wavelength.......OOPS!

The woman obviously went to Australia, but must have emigrated after 1960

Jacqueline how did you find out that the woman in JFM 1921 had a sister? I would like to find out also if Eleanor had siblings, I originally looked into the Eleanor born in May 1921 that died in Stockport but that wasn't her, so her dob must be the March 1921

How do I trace her children Brian and Jean ?

Thanks

If this is her birth:
Births Mar 1921
Long Eleanor Currie Chorlton 8c 1557
then her father's surname was Long and her Mother's maiden name was Currie.

If you search free bmd for Long/Currie births, you also get:
Births Jun 1928
Long Joan Currie Manchester S. 8d 299
in the same area.

Which would be these parents:
Marriages Jun 1920
Currie Georgina Long Chorlton 8c 2809
Long George F Currie Chorlton 8c 2809
