Hello,
Same person but not sure which one- I did purchase several Births certificates from GRO England BUT NOT the correct ones. I found theses two but don't want to spend any more money to order them in case they are not correct.
Joseph married Georgina Moore in 1887-I need Joseph Mitchell birth information to do more research . I found this information on Genes and Ancestry but don't have full subscription/or credits. Sorry I forgot to put surname in.

I cannot find John Joseph and Mary in either 1901 or 1911 ....... nor any of those children shown on that ancestry tree :-)



so I cannot compare the two records

In 1901, Joseph and Georgina are living in Colchester, and Jospeh is shown as a Private Soldier in the cavalry .........


.................. which explains why his children were born in so many different places :-)


Did he and Georgina marry in Ireland???


If so, do you have their marriage certificate???


If so, what is his father's name?

You need the man's father's name - from his marriage cert , which will also tell you his age at the time

On the censuses posted above (and in 1901), he is too old to have been born in 1865.

There's no guarantee that his birth was registered, as it pre-dated the introduction of penalties(1875)

For the information and doing the look ups-
Yes, Joseph and Georgina married in Ireland as Georgina was from there.
On Joseph's marriage certificate it states Joseph father name is William.
Yes Chris they are all related William Mitchell was the son of Joseph and Georgina Mitchell - to further my research I need Joseph's birth details -I have purchased several birth certificates -wrong ones-it looks like I will have to purchases some more or give up.

that information will NEVER be available on GR, nor on any other web site


All you see on GR re birth is the registration of the birth .................... and that is an INDEX taken from the GRO (General Register Office)


You have to buy the birth certificate from GRO to get the information you need .................


each certificate costs £9.25, post and packing included, worldwide, from the following address


http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

you have to register, but it is free.


You get the information on the registration from www.freebmd.org.uk, or from GR, and then apply for the certificate with the names shown EXACTLY as in the registration.

I thought Genes would have more information when I purchased credits to view their information. As you say need to order birth certificates from GRO .I DID ORDER several certificates , about 6 in total at cost £ 9.25 each . The year 1864 -wrong ones so now I'm trying year 1865 and came up with two so looks like I need to order them.
if I want information. May be his birth was not registered as Jacqueline says.

no site has the full details of any bmd certificate for England and Wales. You always have to buy the actual certificate.
