You say his firstborn child was Alexander James 1845.
Are you sure ?

I think this child is the first (he's in the 1851, 1861, & 1871 censuses posted earlier by Shirley):

Alexander John Wilson
in the Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950

Name: Alexander John Wilson

Birth Date: 19 Aug 1844
Baptism Date: 7 Oct 1844
Baptism Place: Inverurie,Aberdeen,Scotland
Father: Alexander John Wilson

That's listed as a Church of Scotland baptism.

Well this seems to be Jane Taylor in 1841. Address is correct for the marriage. Parents appear to be John and Jane. No mention of Walkers in these.

OK I've finally caught up! So Jane was the daughter of Jean Walker who then married John Taylor or Jean Taylor who married John Taylor or maybe Jean Taylor who had a liason with David Walker. Possibly not the last scenario.

Can't see the birth / baptism of daughter Marjory Taylor Wilson, born c1847.

There was a Margaret Taylor Wilson born in 1849, but with different parents (John Wilson & Jane Scott) , and she's with them in later censuses -

Hi all,BOY! I must have the most complicated family tree of all time. Was reading up yesterday on Scots who went to Canada/Nova Scotia in the 1700s and came across 2 books called "Directory of Scottish Settlers in North America 1625-1825" & "Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada Before Confederacy" both by D.Dobson.Say they are widely acclaimed by geneologists.Available on Ancestry. Will try get to library to check them out.Thought I'd write down all with Wilson surnames then go back to Scottish records and see if any match.Maybe Alexander's father (or his parents) went there first and the dad married in Canada.Just a thought.Marj
