Hello Tracy I have a mystery I would love some help with. My grgr aunt Mary Butler married Cornelius Saward in 1873 at St James the Great Bethnal Green and they were spinster and batchelor. On 1881 census they have children ranging from 1 to 20, on 1871 census the older of these children are listed with parents John and Mary Saward. I can't find them on 1861 at all and I can't find births for any of the older children on FreeBMD. Mary Butler was born in Clerkenwell in 1842 and Cornelius was age 10 on 1851 census I haven't found his birth yet. My question is did the older children belong to someone else and get adopted by Cornelius and Mary or did Mary and Cornelius live in sin for 13 years? I hope you can point me in the right direction thankyou Maureen

Maureen, I can't find them in 1861 either. I hate London lol I'm thinking that John and Cornelius are the same person. It might be that he and Mary lived together before getting married. I did find a few ''possible'' births for the early children under Butler.

Hi Tracy Could you possibley look and see if you could find a death for an Ellen Fowler b about 1855, she is alive in 1901, living eithr in Hertfordshire or London believe it might have been early 1920's when she died but could have been before, not sure how simple it is to check all dates from 1901 to 1920's if too difficult I understand but if just a question of typing in a name I would be grateful. Also could you check a marriage of an Douglas Alexander Fowler either in Watford or London from about 1907 onwards have already sent for one marriage certificate that is wrong. Need to know who he married. Many thanks Maureen

I don't know if you can help but I'm having problems with the 1901 census and in finding 2 people. My g.grandmother Amelia Florence Dunn b.1883 and my g.grandfather William Baylies b.1877 These are the correct years of birth and also the correct spellings but I cannot find them on the census.I have tried diffeerent spellings as advised to but I am having no luck. I know that they married when Amelia was 17 so she could be in the census as Amelia Baylies but there are quite a few and I don't know which one it could be as I don't know if she went into service also I don't know when they married exactly. I do know that Amelia had sisters Emily,Annie and possibly also a Polly Please help!!! Many thanks Cathy

Hi Tracy Do you think you could find a brother and sister in 1901? His name is George Henry Absolom born 1878 Stoke Row, Oxon. He was a chimney sweep. His sister was Mary Ann Absolom born 1882 Reading, Berks. I think she was working as a servant of some type away from home. Also do you think you could find the marriage of Eleanor Ann Ferris(nee Absolom) & Frederick Aldridge. It would have been in Reading sometime during WW1. Thanks for your time Jane

Hi Tracey, I have a bit of a mystery here. My great great grandfather, John Workman, born 1857 pershore, worcestershire and married charlotte Playdon born 1833, had about 5 children, but I have never found the first two living with them. My great grandfather William whatton Workman was born in Pershore in 1857 and never appears with his parents that I have found. I wasnt able to look up the 1861 census and dont know where he was then. Also John workman was deceased apparently in one census and alive in the next. Anything you could find about any of these would be great! I would really appreciate it! Yours hopefully and many thanks! jennie
