Hello Tracy Thankyou for trying to find Cornelius Saward and Mary Butler on 1861. Could you list the possible births for the older children for me. Maureen

Just a long shot, Tracy. Could you see if you can find the death of Edwin Beresford born abt. 1835 in Derbyshire. He is still in Derbyshire and alive and well in 1901. Could you have a stab in the dark and see if you can find his death? I appreciate your time. Susan

Hi Tracey Thanks for your offer. My Great Grandfather Andrew Teasdale Ranson (Ransome)was born at Morpeth Durham in 1862, he migrated to Australia with his family early 1870's. Can you see if he appears on any of the Census' around the 1860's and if so what were his parents' names? Also, are you able to source their marriage details. Thanks in anticipation Lyne Richardson Sydney Australia

Fraser Report 21 Oct 2005 06:16

I am trying to find out a mystery as to what happened to my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother on my Father's side. I know this much. My Grandfather - Arthur Neville Pollard Moss is listed as a 10 years old in the 1901 Census in Attleborough Nuneaton Warwickshire (he is actually listed as Arthur M. P Moss in the census). He is listed as being adopted by the Hill Family who lived at Lutterworth Road - Cemetary House Attleborough, Nuneaton. The Adopted Family was Henry Hill - age 56 as of 1901 census Occupation- Coal Hewer & Grave Digger Employment status - Worker Betsy Hill- age 58 as of 1901 census born - Warw ... Employment status - Undefined Sons Geo Hill - Age 35 as of 1901 census Occupation-Coal Miner Not At Work Emploment status - Worker Herbert Hill - Age 17 as of 1901 census Profession or Occupation - Colliery Filler Employment Status - Worker born - Warw Attleboro Now I believe Arthur's natural parents were, Edwin Moss and Sarah Pollard for whom I once saw a marriage certificate, but neither of whom are in the 1901 census. They were married in (or near) Daventry, Northants. I cannot remember the year (maybe circa 1880's), but I do remember that Edwin's Father was listed as John Masters Moss, and either Edwin or John's profession was a 'Hay Tosser'. What was strange was that although I cannot remember Sarah Pollard's parents name, I do remember that neither of their surnames was Pollard. The mysteries I'd like solved is 1. Did Edwin and Sarah both die before the turn of the century (resulting in Arthur's adoption) and can a record of them be found alive or dead in Nuneaton/Atherstone/Attleborough, Warwickshire or in Daventry Northants between 1850 and 1901? 2. Who were their parents and when did they live? I'd just like to add that I'm trying to do this from California, so I need help from the homeland to make a breakthrough as I cannot visit these places myself at the moment. Many thanks in advance for any help.
