Hi Susan Could you please have a look at the 1901 Staffordshire census for Sylvia Careless born 1822, Darlaston. She was a widow and may have been living with son Abraham Careless or daughter Hannah Harvey, possible addresses Catherines Cross or Foundry Street, both Darlaston. She actually died in Walsall workhouse but don't know when she went in there but was definitely still alive in 1901. Thanks. Ann

Dear Sue, Thank you so much for trying to find my Rickard/Legge ancestors earlier. I'm finding it a real challenge getting anywhere with their trace. The only real information comes from my grandmothers birth certificate (she was born in Australia in 1900) which states her father's name as being Charles Rickard age 28yrs a fruit classer born in London and her mother being Isabella Cavanagh age 21yrs born in NSW Australia. From that information I obtained Charles and Isabella's wedding certificate which states Charles's (who states his age as 27yrs when he married in Sydney in 1896) parents were Charles Rickard who was a miner and Louisa Legge. Because Charles jnr was born in London (somewhere between 1869 and 1872) I'm assuming his parents came from London too. But I'm aware this may not be the case at all. Do you suggest that I trace a name variant like 'Richard' instead of 'Rickard' or do you think that would be a waste of time? Because I live in Australia and am fairly new to this I have no idea where to go from here. Sincere thanks for trying to find Charles and Louisa. Karen.

Hi Susan, Can you please do a death look-up fo me. Father and son. Arthur Lewsley b. 1855. Pancras., Middlesex. He was still alive in 1900 but deceased in 1921. Also if you happen to come across a date of death for a George B. Lewsley, b. 1880, Islington it would be appreciated. B. could possibly stand for Beaumont as his mother was Louisa Beaumont. 'Fraid I have no other info on this one. He was recorded on 1891 census as living 7 Thorpdale Rd, Islington but I couldn't find him on 1901 census. Your help is muchly appreciated. Lynne
