Joseph Slater, 50yrs, Mary 40 yrs,Mary 21, William 14,Thomas 11, Elizabeth 11, James 8, Emma 1. I cannot find a marriage nor christenings for the above family Notts 1851 Piece 2127 Folio281 77 Mount Street, Basford Martha Slater. Widow, 54yrs Lace Mender,bHoldbrook Derbys Herbert son 20 Lace maker b Nottm Thomas son 18 dit b Sneinton Nottm Emma dau 10 b Brittany France. The only Marriage I can find for a Thomas Slater is to Caroline Eaton at Nottingham St Mary 25.12.1851 I cannot find the 1841 family in 1851. Bear in mind that the above are checked in Basford Nottingham. The Parish and Rural District of the same name covers a huge area of north Nottingham, Notts and well in to Derbyshire at those dates . There is only 1 Bingham in Basford,Nottingham in 1851, Ann 19 a servant at 89 Sherwood Rise and she is b Buxton, Derbys. There are two other references in Piece 2127 Basford RD.

Lorna Yes saw the update but I am having difficulties with the scans for Sneinton as the Folio numbers are obliterated. Try again tomorrow.

Hello Robin, Could you look for Eliza Thompson. She would be about 29 years born in Bardney Lincolnshire and should be knocking about North Muskham or Kneesal. Hopefully, Janice.

Thank you so much Robin. Gradually getting a clearer picture of migration of family. Do you have parish records for Allington (creep, creep)? Jackie

Robin

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 12:31

Jackie I have Notts/West Yorks Parish Records disc (Not complete). There are 24 Notts entries for Wing , all pre 1812 and most are 17/18C in the North Notts area.Denton and West Allington are mentioned in a few. If you want those I can sort them out given time. The Yorks ones (34) are mostly in the Rotherham area, same time span. Some of these but not all will be on IGI.

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 13:20

Janice I cannot find her 1851/61

Janice

Janice Report 4 Jul 2004 13:36

Thanks anyway. She might be using the name Cooper and is in North Muskham. If you get chance could you have a quick look. Thanks again, Janice.

Robin

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 13:45

Lorna Negative I am afraid nor are the marriage and the christening listed on my indexes.

Robin

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 13:53

Janice The surname Cooper is not listed on the Index in Kneesall or North Muskham. I have checked again visually=negative

Hi Robin Not too sure about the Rotherham link. Some did go there around mid 1800s and married and settled Sheffield/ Doncaster etc working in the iron foundries etc. Really the E allington ones i'm after. I see there are loads from Denton. What is the likelihood that there was a connection between them and those in E Allington? It's Anthony b c 1736 I'm after married Sarah Atkinson. Absolutely nothing (think you may have looked before for him) tHere are anthonys before him in E Allington, his son Anthony but nothing for his birth on IGI. If you do have the time to look, would be very grateful if it's not too much trouble. His son Anthony died Sedgebrook. Jackie

On 28/6 you kindly told me about Thomas Howley working as a servant, aged 15, living Gateford Rd, Worksop, on the 1841 census. Would it be possible for you to give me exact address, and all other members of the household. Thank You.

Robin

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 19:50

Ann The answer is no Sorry. As I am working from a transcription surname indexed all I can tell you is that there are no other Howleys at Gateford Road. House numbers are not given so you would need to see the original to find out who he is working for.

Robin

Robin Report 4 Jul 2004 19:54

Jackie I have Anthony Wing of West Allington married at Staunton 21st May 1761 to Sarah Atkinson, which looks like the one you already have. Denton is about 4/5 miles away so I would imagine there will be connections eventually. Thanks for the e mail. Nice to know we got there in the end.!

Jackie

Jackie Report 4 Jul 2004 20:52

You're right Robin -2 of Anthoneye Winge and Ursula Baxter's children were christened at Denton. They certainly got around as they married in W Allington. Being ag labs suppose they went where the work was, mostly seasonal. Jackie
