Hi David Had a lovely holiday thanks, thought it too hot, but looking at the weather here, wish I was that hot now!! I'm afraid I can't find your families on the 1851. I looked on the '61 but Cambridge Road then was named, Rows Terraces & Places. Have you got a name of the house I can then look again. Lynda

Hi Lynda I hope you can help me. Jackie did a lookup for some Taylor family in Stepney in 1851 and found over 200 families for me which was a bit too much. She suggested I write to you and give you the names of the family I was looking for hopefully maybe you might come across them. Their names are Matthew Taylor and his wife Sarah Bouchard. Their children are James William Taylor, John William Taylor, Matthew Taylor and William Taylor. Sarah and Matthew were married in St Dunstan, Stepney in 1799. They may not be alive in 1851 but I am hoping their may be some record of the children somewhere. I also have a folio number for Bouchard HO107 1553 Folio 698v. I am still a newbie to genealogy and I would very much appreciate any help at all. Thanks in advance. Irene in NZ

Lynda ~ Report 4 Jul 2004 13:27

Hi Irene This is the result from the folio number you gave me. 16 Devonshire Place Stepney St peters Towere Hamlets Bouchard Thomas 57 proprietor of houses born Bethnal Green Sarah 53 Domestic born Holborn Anne 37 unmarried I think it says sister domestic servant b. Bethnal Green Mary 44 widow I think this says sister in law Proprietor of houses b. Behtnal Green The 1851 name index I have doesn't cover this area. I have looked on the 1871 and there are so many Taylors with those first names, if you have any other information about them i.e dates of birth I can look again on the 1871. Let me know and I'll see what I can find. Lynda
