Thanks for the look-up, Jane-I don't think she would have remarried at that age in those days. The second one is definitely too young.I'll have another look at her husband and how I thought she was a widow in 1841-maybe got that wrong.

Hi Jane,

Many thanks for the help you gave with my Chalk family, it was a big help as I didn't know of the other Chalks you found living nearby, and that does shed some light on other areas now.

Could I trouble you for another lookup - I'm looking for Charles Lane born around 1829, in Cranborne, Wimborne (which seems to have shifted borders between Wiltshire and Dorset but I think then it would have been Wilts), and I'm trying to locate him on the 1841 census when he would have been about 12. Have traced him from 1851 onwards and he seems to have stayed in Cranborne all his life but if I can get an earlier record of him it should give me his parents. I have heard the 1841 is notoriously difficult to decipher so I'm not expecting too much, but any info would be great!

Many thanks,
Michelle

Hi Jane,
I hope you could help me with the little info I have...
I am looking for...
Thomas Cook born about 1845 but not sure, he is my ggreat grandfather. I have only one son which is William Edward Cook born in 1862, my great grandfather. He is deceased on Williams marriage cert dated 15 Dec 1905, I cant even fine a death for Thomas either, I know the Cook family where from Scotland but not sure where. So if you could point me in some sort of direction I would be really grateful as I am at a dead end with Thomas. I am sorry for the little info I have and I know you may not be able to help.
Thanks Louise x

Hi Jane,
Thanks for your kind offer.
I was wondering if you could find my 4 x Grt grandparents in 1841 please.
WILLIAM RITCHIE & MARY WILSON.
I know they got married in Monimail - Fife - scotland in 1805, but they had their last child, Alexander Forbes Ritchie in Markinch - Fife in 1826.
Unfortunately I don't have William & Mary's birth dates but probably around 1782c.
Sorry I can't be more precise.
Many thanks
Kath

Thanks for that Jane - I'm not sure if it is my Charles Lane or not, the age fits but the area seems a bit far over and I know there were a lot of Lanes about! But thanks for looking, I shall try and follow it up and determine whether it's him, and at least I have other potential family members now to narrow the search!
