There are 2 sites that I know of that you can lookup addresses and that's www.thegenealogist.com, or www.findmypast.com. I'm a member of the first (until December) but that doesn't cover 1881.

It's unlikely they would still be at the same address 10 years earlier, but may well be worth a try.

Cheers

Elizabeth Report 24 Nov 2007 10:28

Hi Phil

Thankyou for carying on the search. To answer your questions:-
1) The marriage certificate states The parish Church in the parish of Whiston.
2) In answer to the Swift question. This is interesting as this has come up before.

Elizabeths's mother was Faith Stockley and she had a sister called Margaret who married a William Swift. They had a daughter called Elizabeth born about the same time as Elizabeth Waine 1850.

The children on your census don't quite match my William's as my William had Earnest and Charlotte and my John (who is my garnadfather )was John William not John Edward).

I know it is unlikely for them to be at the same address but just thought it mught give a clue. The family search .org gives the 1881 census but I don't know how to search by address.
I have a printed copy of the 1891 one but can't read the address!!

Many thanks again for your help

Elizabeth

Efes123 Report 24 Nov 2007 11:27

Elizabeth,

The address for the 1891 census looks like 11 Kimble St.

If you check this link: http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/cgi/marrind.cgi?county=lancashire

and search you'll get this info:

HOUGHTON William WAINE Elizabeth Whiston, St.Nicholas Prescot C7/1/19

If you send me a mail to [email protected] I'll send you a readable census that you can open with MS Picture viewer.

Ah yes, just checked the FindMyPast site, and you can't search for an address for the 1881 census. :-(

I found the Swift's by searching for a Cloe with age & father & mother's details, she was the only viable one that came up.

Cheers

Phil

Efes123 Report 24 Nov 2007 11:29

Elizabeth,

Just one more point. The Earnest & John from the 1891 census wouldn't have been born for the 18881 census so they wouldn't have shown up. The dates for Chloe & Elizabeth match with the 1891 census dates for thiose children, along with both parents.

Cheers

Elizabeth Report 24 Nov 2007 11:48

Hi Phil

My family's dates of birth are:-
Elizabeth 1878,Clara 1880,Earnest 1882, Margaret 1885, John 1886, Charlotte 1892.

So the only 2 that should show up on the 1881 census are Elizabeth 1878 and Clara 1880.
I had a chat with my Mum this morning who is John's daughter and she can't remember any other children than the ones I have.

Thanks again for looking

Hi again
I have just had alook at the Swift family to see if William Swift and Margaret Stockley had a son called William but I can't see that they did unless that information is missing from my research.

It is all a great mystery.

Hi Phil,

I believe there are some references in the Universal British Directory to Jonathan Mallet(t), an army surgeon from Lichfield, Staffordshire, who was with the British army in America in about 1760-1784.

If you have time, could you have a look?

Thanks very much,
Mary

Mary,

Sorry, Lichfield doesn't seem to be included, I did search the whole directory just in case, but no luck.

Good luck

Irish Angel Report 27 Nov 2007 09:36

Hello Phil
I have tried a few times to get on to your site no luck am afraid.
I'm really hoping and praying that he can help me with this I have been struggling for so many years now. If it wasn't for the fact that I have my father's birth certificates and grandparents marriage certificates I would be absolutely convince that this family never existed.
The family that I am researching Beatty's from Dublin Ireland my grandfather Eugene Lawrence Beatty date of birth I believe 2nd of September 1894 I do have a little information from his war records but nothing about his life before the war or after the war. He enlisted into the Irish guards at Dublin on the 19th of September 1914. He gives is next of kin Father Michael Beatty of 27 Dartmouth road Leeson park Dublin. I do have more information but just do not want to bore you at the moment.
Thank you Lynne
