Thanks for help previously.

Im trying to find the maiden name of Ellen Parr 1843, she married James Parr 1842.

He is from Wigan and she is from Aspull.

The record for their marriage came up with 5 between 1859 and 1863, all could be them.

Im just not sure how to distinguish my Ellen from the other four.
Thankyou for any help.

Ben
If this is the correct family on 1871 census:

Caroline Street,Ince in Makerfield,Lancs
James Parr Head 29 Collier miner b Wigan
Ellen Parr Wife 28 b Aspull
Ann Parr Daur 8 Scholar b Wigan

the best thing to do would be to invest a few pounds and buy Ann Parr's birth cert. Now there are two Ann Parr children registered in Wigan within the time frame.
Ann Parr Sept Qtr 1862 Wigan 8c 65
and
Ann Parr March Qtr 1863 Wigan 8c 29

You should get both certs and hope that they both do not have parents called James/Ellen.
Cheaper than buying 5 marriage certs.

Freebmd is very useful!!! and a bit of logic!!!!

Hi Mary

Would it please be possible to look on the 1841 census for Eli Wootton. He will be living with his wife Elizabeth and there children Alfred, James, Caroline and John (probably even more). Not sure when Eli was born but i think he was born in Northampton, i know the children were born in Northhampton, in 1830s. Any help very much appreciated.

Regards

Danielle

P. S. Just found that Eli was born around 1806. Hope this helps...

Hi Mary
Yes I found him in the 1841 index on findmypast.only i've just runned out of units.
The entry just says records John South (68) in Colchester district.

Not to worry if you can't find him on Ancestry, I'll just top up my units.

Thanks for looking.:-)
