Can anybody give me some help on where to look for birth details that are not on the normal website.

I have posted Eliza details before and had some lovely replies but no luck in finding her birth details and am at a lost of where to go now. Any help would be grateful and this is now a brick wall.

Do you have her marriage cert? - Can you put up the details please?

Her birth may not have been registered as it wasnt compulsary till 1875. You may find her baptism in Parish records but this will mean a look up at the London Metropolitan Archives if they hold the records for her birth area

Thanks Shirley - if that something I can look on the web or is it a trip to London - if yes do you know where they are.

In 1901 they are still at 19 Cornwall Street. However I can't find Eliza before she was married.

Do you have the birth certificate for any of her children? I was just wondering if Royce was her maiden name or if she had been married before she married Joseph.

No sorry I do not have any of her children birth certificates but on her marriage certificate it said she was a spinister.

Joseph Bennett lived at 143 Back Church Lane.

Eliza Royce lived at 145 (or it could 143) Back Church Lane.

(1) Daniel Jerrison or Jenison
(2) X The mark of Eliza Jerrison or Jenison

Sorry their surnames are the same - hard to read, could begin with a "T" Looking at the ""J" in Joseph it is different so it could be Terrison or Tenison

The Witness were Daniel & Eliza TENISON. Sometimes spelt Tennison - I have just found the family on the 1881 Census.

The London Metroplitan Archives are 5 mins walk from the Family Records Centre- heres their address and Tel nos. You could give them a ring and enquire if they have the records for Whtechaapel and if they will do a look up . think it will cost you a search fee tho but will be cheaper and quicker than doing a visit. they are very helpful!!.
