Hi all,

I think it's time to let this thread sink out of sight and begin a fresh one.

Also I think one nudge per day is enough. Perhaps an extra one just after a fresh episode of WDYTYA? goes out... ;-)

What would you put in a new thread Mark? Don't forget, there are new people joining all the time hence the extra nudges. It's just a case of trying to help them.

Hi Cynthia,

"What would you put in a new thread Mark?"

The same again as this one. Just cut and paste the stuff from page 1 of this thread into the new one.

The thing is that, at first glance, the newbie might think that there are 26 page's worth of tips that they should know about before they even start on their tree, which could be off-putting.

Or maybe they'll decide to "save that for later", plough ahead with their tree-building, get stuck and start posting exactly the kind of newbie-queries which threads like this are intended to avert.

Just my opinion, mind you. Things seem to be ticking along just fine and it was merely a suggestion to get it back to a less daunting 2-3 page thread.

With regards to nudging, it should only be necessary when the thread has genuinely slipped out of sight onto page 2 of the thread list, rather than nudging at set times of day. (Currently twice a day, is the scroll rate really that bad?)

regards,

Mark

middle of the night nudge

Mark ..... in case you are wondering ... this nudge is for those in other countries who are posting during their own day time.

Good morning all. I usually nudge when it's convenient for me to do so, as does Sylvia. Regards.

Iam so new to this, but Iam trying so hard to trace my tree on the Cryer side, all I know is that My Great Grandfathern was Simpson Cryer, he was the Father of My Grandmother Nora Cryer who then became Nora Grimes. And on the Cryer side there was 13 children but many died very young, Dorothy Cryer aged 12 months in 1914, Martha Eleanor aged 19 in 1918,Hilda aged 10 in 1919, there was also David Cryer, Mabel Cryer , Maggie and Francis.

Susan

This thread is offering advice on how best to use the boards.

It would be better if you started your own thread asking for help with your Cryer family.
