Have you found him on the 1861 census for some clues?

Middy Report 2 Oct 2009 17:54

Hi Marion

No haven't found him on any census, as I say the only information I have is on his marriage cert and his child's birth cert - he is like the invisible man!

Marion, please give us a hand here - having a crisis!
Locating this Emma Louisa Bridger would be great as she might be the key - who can say?

Scraping the barrel now, but what's the betting that this little one is connected to "our" Emma Louisa?

There is this birth and marriage on the IGI but it is submitted after 1991 by a member of the church so would need careful checking but at least it's the same name as the witness:-

Emma Louisa Bridger

Found this family in 1851 (The Emma Louisa Bridger whose marriage I found - she has a daughter called Emma who could be your witness if she was born before her parent's marriage and used her birth name. I know I'm clutching at straws here!!) The family are mistranscribed as Seales:-

Name: Thomas Seales
[Thomas Scales]
Age: 29
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1822
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Emma
Gender: Male
Where born: Bermondsey, Surrey, England
Civil parish: Southwark St George
Ecclesiastical parish: St Mary Magdalene
County/Island: Surrey
Country: England
Street Address:

Emma Seales 6

EDIT AGAIN - You can scrap that idea as this child is registered as Emma Louisa Scales = DRAT!!!

The marriage cert you have is on Ancestry. Found a Alexander Wm. Bridger that married Emma Louisa Austin in 1874 but his father was Alexander so unless the fathers are brothers no joythere. Irene ps someone has a Henry Charles in their tree born 1826 Deal. Kent with father John but no other details to link. Irene

Hi
I was just wondering if you had his death certificate and whether there were any clues there? Did he die at sea?

Middy Report 3 Oct 2009 15:18

Hi Von

I don't have his death certificate the only one I have is the marr cert, all I know is that he died prior to his son being born, and that he was a seaman and was wondering whether he may have died at sea, but again have no idea of how I would go about finding this out (I have checked out the Naval records on line at the National Archives but no luck there)

Thanks
