Hi Von and Lann,
thanks so much for still looking for me.
There is another Alice, she is the illegitimate daughter of Ellen Cook and had me confused at first, but after making contact with a tree holder it appears she married one of his relatives so thank goodness that ruled her our.
I have sent to GRO for Death cert Betty Cook and I have sent for death cert of Ellen Cook, In addition to what you found I was able to find a death for Ellen June 1846, On LBMD it states she was 59 and the abode as Lowton which is where the family were in 1851, registration district of Leigh, so I hope I have picked the right one. I must say Von that like you I am leaning toward the Alice, daughter of Betty and Henry but i will wait and see what I get back from GRO. Will let you know, in the meantime any more ideas are really welcome.

When this is sorted I will need to start on Alice's hubby, Joseph Duckworth and guess what, I don;t think that will be easy either!! Once again many thanks. cheers. M.

Hello again.
Just to let you know that I sent for the two death certs from GRO.
Ellen Cook's states wife of Henry Cook Silk Weaver with the information given by James Cook - in attendance at the death in Lowton. So at least that ties in with Henry Cook and Ellen Whittles. Not sure where James fits in though as I did not have him as one of the children.

The other for Betty Cook states Widow of Henry Cooke, hand loom cotton weaver Gustavious Hillock with the information given by Peter Cooke present at the death, church lane Ashton. Soooo that ties in with Betty Heaton and Henry Cooke. BUT still no concrete evidence as to which Alice.
So I am going to go with Betty Heaton as Alice' s mother based upon the information I have and hope that if I have it wrong some kind soul who has more "proof" than I have will put me straight.
Can I once again thank you for all your help and support. I know I will be back before long as I seem to be hitting a brick wall at every turn. regards. M.
