there is a Isabella Caldwell with children James and Eliza Ann in Gateshead 1881 but the head of the house is George Caldwell.
the children have the right birth years, so does Isabella !.

was just going to say, there is a Jacob Caldwell death Gateshead in 1878.
wondered if the second child was the daughter of George and not Jacob, but that marriage puts that right out the window lol

I did wonder about this one, having looked for a marriage for Isabella in the event George had died, but seems a bit unlikely in that there is no sign of James or Eliza:

Given that James was probably born before his parents marriage, then I would go for this as his death. Several James Brown's born Gateshead RD 1872/3, but no James Caldwell

I would consider the above marriage for Isabella you know. I wonder if this might be her daughter? Pretty tragic if so:

Deaths Sep 1882 (>99%)
CALDWELL Elizabeth Ann 2 Gateshead 10a 482

I think Stuart is right about death of James, well done him!

Well, it does look promising doesn't it, though of course you need the marriage cert to be sure it is her. The above Isabella looks to have been widowed by 1901.
Happy to help, an interesting challenge this one!
