Thanks that's all interesting info. Do you have any further info on the daughter Elizabeth (birth date etc to see if it's possible that she was my grandfather's sister

Re Anna - do you know if Stuart was her married or birth surname?
If her married name, then obviously the Anna who was baptised in 1857 isn't her.

There were quite a number of Elizabeth Stuart/Stewarts born in various parts of Ireland in and near 1888.

Do you know where in Ireland she was born?

I think Elizabeth was born in Belfast and living in Clifton,Antrim in 1911 census. Don't know anything more about Anna yet

So Stuart was Anna's married name - so not the Anna baptised in 1857:

The whole family were born in Belfast.

So Anna Stuart, nee McHale, can't be the same Annie Stewart who gave birth to Donald Esme in 1888 - unless she had an extra-marital affair, and gave her married name instead of maiden name when registering his birth - unlikely.

I agree unlikely, although there is the DNA link and I can find no other overlaps in the family trees. Thanks for researching.
