Hi, I have John Charlesworth b 1799 Castle Donington, who married Jane Lickiss then moved to Birmingham (1841 census listed as on Towing Path,Birmingham so he was a Boatman). Is there any way of checking for John's father? It MAY be that he was the John Charlesworth from Ashby christened in 1754 (info via IGI). I was going to try and get to Leics Records Office to access Parish Records, but I believe they're closed for refurb.? Any information would be gratefully received!! Cynthia

I have most of those that you listed and I know the Records Office is closed (how dare they!!) but any additional info in the future will be greeted with whoops of joy (honest!) They travelled about a bit, these canal folk. Once more, thanks a lot. Cynthia

Hi everyone, I've been lucky enough to get a direct line back to 1640ish, all thanks to the parish register's at the L.R.O Wigston. What i'd like to know is, now i've found all these ancester's what record's are availiable and where should i be looking to try and find more info about them ? They all seem to have been grazier's from Horninghold, Medbourne, Stonton Wyville , Illston on the Hill and Gaulby. Thanks in advance Sue. P.S I have already checked the will's.

Greeting’s & Welcome Sue Tansley….. Know how cuffed you must feel……. back to 1600’s I too can go back on one of my branches back to 1600’s Depends how much “ Meat on the bone” you what to put on your Tree.? Seeing the early dates you have quoted it will be only achieved by trawling Parish archives. …. Other thing’s to look for……… Land Registers. Settlement Certificates. Minutes of Parish Committee Meetings. Above can be searched at Wigston Records Office. Just ask the Librarian at the desk in search Room No. 2. You’ll find them most helpful…….. Tansley's ....? My next door neighborers back in 42 ~ 63. MIKE.
