Hi guys, Just popped in to say hi. I'm going to meet my brother this week. He is flying in from Holland with his girlfriend on Thursday. I'm so nervous. I have nothing to wear and I have never driven to the airport before. After I pick them up, I then have to find my way to my Grandad's! I can only pray I don't get lost! Hope everyone is ok. Will chat later. Take care. love Jules xx

Just got back from meeting my little brother. HE IS GORGEOUS!!! He says I look like Dad. He and I have the same unique sense of humour and look alike. I can't believe I have met him. His girlfriend is lovely too. Unfortunately I don't speak Dutch as yet. I will have do something about that! A's English is very good. His Mum is very pleased that we have met and has extended a welcome to visit anytime we are in Holland. I have offered the same welcome to them. As much as I love my sister J, I do feel closer to A. It's hard to explain. I don't really understand it myself, to be honest. It was great to see Grandad again. I can't wait to move nearer. That way I can spend more time with him. With Grandad I feel a kind of peace. I don't feel the need to chat all the time with him. We just seem to know what each other is thinking and understand each other so well. Anyhow, I'm off now. Take care Love Jules x

Hi I am an adoptee and a year ago I found my birth mum we have been writing to each other ever since, finding her was very easy as she had married and the divorce and went back to her maiden name, finding my brother is proving to be very difficult at the moment,I have just written to where his adoption records are and am waiting for them to contact me. Just thought I'd say hi to all the other adoptees on here and good luck with your searches. Sue

Hi Sue - welcome to the gang! seems you are doing well in your search - i assume from what you say you were not the only child your B/M gave for adoption and that you have a brother. Do you share the same father too? My birth sister and I do, which is supposed to be quite unusual as ours weren't married Jess

Julia That's brilliant news. From someone who has recently met with her birth mother for the first time, I can understand how you are feeling at the moment. Take it slow and steady, don't be rushed into anything until you're ready to do it and above all, enjoy your new found family Lou

Hi Jess My birth mum had two children,my half brother who was born in 1968 and me who was born in 1971,we dont have the same father as far as I know. You have me thinking now!!!!! On our birth certificates it doesn't have fathers details on them. I am waiting to hear back from my social worker as I have requested my adoption records, she should have them around the end of may. Hi Sue My birth mother had two sons in addition to me who she kept (not as heartless as that sounds) and we all have a different father! I've never asked her about my birth father, I have snippets of info from my adoption file but I'm waiting until she raises the subject....if she ever does! Lou

Hi Guys, Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is getting on and look at all the Good News! reckon we call this the Adoptees Sucess Board now Jess :O) Hi Julia, I am so very very pleased for you, at long last contact! it was great that your cousin was able to smooth the way for you, but its great to know that both your birth mother and brother want to meet with you, guess you can see who you take after now, have a brilliant re-union. Jules, Great to see things went well with your brother, so he's good looking is he? must be in the genes :O) guess you will be of to Holland soon, any Luck with a house yet? Janet Nice to see you have joined us. welcome to Sue also, when you get your adoption records maybe you will have more to go on. Kelly, Have your heard from Worcester Social Services yet? try to keep on their good side because they can be an ally in this, they can give you non-specific information, eg. the area she went to what her parents did for a living etc, this can all help. also it makes not difference that her adoption was private so was mine these details will still be in her court records if they access them. Anyway Glad to hear that things are going so well for you, for everyone else Good Luck, with your continued search. Sheila

Hi Sheila, Found a house. Put in an offer so it's just a waiting game now! OUr house is about to go on the market on Monday. Just hope we get an offer before the 28th! That's when the house we want goes to auction! My brother goes home tomorrow evening. I'm thinking of going to the airport to see him off but I'm a little scared to ask if it's ok! Isn't that daft at my age? 31 for those who don't know! I'm really going to miss him. I am going to ask him to be Godfather for my little one. Hope everyone is ok. Love Jules xx

Hi all, seem to have re-awakened this thread, which is always good to see. Well, Jules, things are moving fast- If you've found the house at auction just don't bid OTT to get to where you want- Hey that's nothing to do with adoption so tell me to 'nose out'- just know what i mean. Everyone else ''Hi''- kkep us posted! Jess

Hello Donna (Strump) or anyone else trying to get in touch. My name is Joan ALLAN not ALLEN. Sorry if this sounds picky but I am not being that way. It is quite easy to get the spelling incorrect - at the end of the day it is what you hear and assume it is spelt the way you believe. My details for connecting to me are joanallan at ntlworld (short for dorothy) *com* and the site is www.myfolks.net

Hi everyone, just wanted to give an update. Have found my husband's sister who was adopted at birth. At the moment we have contact through her support worker, she has said that she does want to get to know my husband but wants to take things slowly, which we totally understand. We are just really pleased to have found her and to have the chance to get to know her and her family. Thank you to those of you who gave me lots of advice and information and good luck to all of you. jenny
