I'll bump this up by adding one Cause of death - Mortification Well, it made me smile! Lisa

Lisa, Mortification Used in the medical sense: gangrene, necrosis or severe infection (literally means put to death)

cheryl Visitation of God Probably means Old Age or natural causes It had been said that death from Visitation of God might imply a punishment from God of someone who was sinful, but it could also mean someone who was blessed by God because they were spared from enduring a distressing illness or they were rewarded for their virtuous life by admission the heaven. I think it means natural causes www*paul_smith*doctors*org.uk fab website

Have not had time to read all of these, so possibly this one already in, on a Tombstone in Winchester Cathedral graveyard 'died of drinking a surfeit of small beer on a hot day' or words to that effect, can't remember the quote precisely Eileen

VICKY CUNNINGHAM - I have a funny one. An uncle of mine died in Antwerp. Cause of death reads 'Run over by Taxi alongside Ship'. The funny bit is letter from solicitor informs body was being shipped home but at bottom of letter reads 'PS Sorry to say ship has been sunk!' How about that for luck!!!

I really need to get some death certificates. I've always been told I had a twisted sence of humour they must be right since I've been laughing so much at this. One death I know of is my GGrandfather who drowned in a causeway in Sydney NSW. I thought a causeway ran through the road for water to pass through so god knows how he drowned in that. And Re: there's a lot of people that have died of diarrhoea and someone said that they wondered what it might have been called all those years ago, while this will I'm sure remain a mystery to us all in the Navy we called it ass piss. Thought you might find it amusing.

This isn't a funny little story but I thought it was rather sweet... Couple about to celebrate 75 years of marriage, wife goes into hospital with a stroke, husband is admitted 5 hours later. While the nurses are trying to arrange them to be together on the same ward. Wife deteriates & family is called, wife passes away within 2 minutes the husband also takes his last breath not knowing his wife had died 2 minutes previously. I just thought it was so touching that they had spent so long together in life they obv knew they would be together in death. .....

I've just been told about a rellie who died from being struck by lightning. That's supposed to be the same odds as winning the Lottery. Maybe I SHOULD buy a ticket!
