Ancestor died from eating peas...depending if you are speaking to the logical it was diarhoa or the family legend - thats why you should never eat the peas that your shelling. You decide which version you prefer.

Not funny but some of the causes of death are priceless. My 3x great grandparents died within 3 months of each other, both had same doctor and registrar (1862) 'Exhaustion of vital powers' and 'natural decay of constitution'. Hope it means both died peacefully in their beds! Linda

Just found this on the Lancs OPC site Burial: 12 Jan 1819 St Wilfrids, Standish, Lancashire, England Edward Kirkham - Age: 27 Abode: Coppull Cause of Death: While amputing his leg not that funny when you think about it - this is before anaesthetics

Vicky

Vicky Report 6 Jul 2006 10:02

(more from the Lancs OPC site) there are several people all in their 80's & even 90's dying of ''old age'' not that funny to see this given for someone who is only 60

If you can die by ''the visitation of God'', has anyone ever died by ''the visitation of the Devil''?? lol Merry

I have a few interesting ones... Grtx3 grandfather, Samuel Clarke, died aged 50yrs. His cause of death is noted as 'Accident, Fracture of arm by Hoggen Weel passing over it'. (Mispelling for Hoggin Wheel. Hoggin is a sand-based material used for laying pathways/small roads and it is flattened by a heavy roller or wheel). OUCH!! His grandson, Samuel James died from a fall down the stairs (whilst trying to drag a chair upstairs) which caused fractured ribs and pneumonia. His grt grandson (my grandad) died from a fall indoors when a coffee table he leant on collapsed, causing fractured ribs...and pneumonia! What an accident prone family my lot were!!
