Do they have to be virgin silkworms to weave superior silk? I read this somewhere but it sounds silly to me.

Silk is made from the cocoons that the lavae wrap themselves in to evolve into the moth but they are normally boiled before they emerge cos if they came out they would ruin the silk, as far as im aware they dont start mating until they mature into moths.

So basically they're all virgins therefore there is no distinction between silkworms and the silk they weave.

yeh they are all still virgins so can wear a veil on their wedding day as long as they evade being boiled first lol

The only difference I know is that the silk threads used to make duchese silk has natural mistakes in it which makes it rarer and therefore more expensive.

So is it because they are...erm..."Innocent"....*winks*...that is why the price of silk is so high ??

Or does it mean that poor quality silk is from...er...*whispers*.....norty silk worms ??

Baby silkworms come from the ones who dont get boiled and grow to be moths then they become floozies lay eggs and the whole process starts again.

I think I watch too much of the discovery channel lol

Oh, Jean, you little innocent person. You have to take their word for it. Jax said they become moths and then they...well you know and that's where the baby silkworms come from. They must stay pure until they become moths.
