~~~~Where were you when you heard Elvis presley died and Princess Diana?
What was you doing at time?
I remember being about 8 yrs old when Elvis died..It was the summer of 76..I think..really hot..I was playing "tennis balls" on the walls..it came over the radio..My mum came out cryingg her eyes out!
Princess Diana..different story..was in bed..and my partner yelled at me to get out of bed!.. (I thought at time.."He will do anything to get me out of bed!").He said Diana has died .When I got up and realised..Gobsmacked..we sat for entire day watching the news..transfixed..Both those days are like they happened yesterday..do engrained in my memory.~~~

think it happened on a Saturday night didn't it? My son woke me on Sunday morning to tell me. OH was touring Scotland with Pendyrus Male Choir and they had to cancel all their concerts and come back home - never ever thought the death of Diana would affect me like it did - I was devastated and bawled my eyes out watching her funeral

I was in a croft house in shetland when I heard Evis had died.
When Diana died, Me and a friend were coming back from my sisters house in the early hours and heard it on the radio (radio 4) bit by bit - she was injured, he was dead etc.

Elvis died 3 months after I left school in 1977. I remember it well because we'd just returned from the pub when they put his concert on the tv.

I remember Princes Diana's car accident being announced on the tv in the middle of the night then later on they announced her death and I just couldn't believe it.

~~~I didn`t think I would cry like I did..I think I was finished off..watching her sons follow the hearse..flowers coming from all directions...

i was devastated

A good friend called me at about 6.45 to tell me Dianna had died, she had been listening to the radio reports in bed all night, I then went and switched the TV on and sat there just watching in disbelief.

I waited untill around 7.45 to call my brother and told him to switch on the TV..

My big memory was the Aberfan pit disaster.

Came home from school and couldn't believe it.......

Can so much still remember the news coverage. I learned to cry for other people but me that day

Elvis died during the summer holidays. It was the same year as the jubilee, and my nan bought me and my cousin jubilee scrap books to fill in. Mine was filled with various newspaper cut outs and even the milk bottle tops - they were silver with little crowns over them. I still have it safely stored away.

My cousin filled hers with Elvis pics and newspaper. cutouts.
I don't remember his death being announced, but vividly remember the front page of the The Sun that had a picture of him laying in his coffin.


I woke up Sunday morning and switched on the TV to watch Hollyoaks, and found out about Diana. Couldn't believe what I was hearing, and stayed glued to the telly all day.

It was my cousins birthday and it sort of passed by quietly.

well elvis died i was still a twinkle in me dads eye hehe "winks"

when diana died i had slept at our angels and i came dwn to mam n angel sat sombre watching the telly

~~I was on internet at time..(t.v had broken down two days earlier..and we had just got it mended at a cost of £150)..I looked up at t.v..to think I was watching a disaster movie..turned volume up..to my shock..horror..That day was like Dianas death..I could not believe what I was seeing..~~

~~how many children were killed in that disaster?..I saw clips yrs later..know it was a lot..~~

I was too young to remember elvis croaking it.
