I've just figured it out, Betty. I was sending you a message, but I'll put it here.

When you click on your name, you're looking at the big, bold name up top: Elizabeth.

Look down at the bottom and look at the little, faint name: Elizabeth _____ .

There. See it now? That's what we're talking about!

Ah, those great minds. ;)

Don't forget to press the save button after changing.

I think I know now why I can't see your various names, I am not on the UK version of Genes Reunted I am on a differnt one because I didn't like the adverts.

No, Betty, really, you are just looking in the wrong place.

The site makes no difference. I just tried it at the ZA site.

Click on your name. You will get the page for sending a message.

Look UNDER the box where you type your message. UNDER the "Send" button.

It says:

N.B. Sending a message to Elizabeth ____ will automatically add him/her to your contacts

We see the name after Elizabeth. You will too.

Betty your full name is clearly shown, it is to me im on the ad free site as well, you should not be able to see my correct name it should say

OSNABRUCK which is not my real surname

Shelly -- I sent you a PM telling you what I see, and the quick fix if you want to change it!


The site without ads: just look in your adress bar and change the "uk" to "za" and GO.

You'll be at exactly the same place, only without the ads. Proceed from there!

He says his surname shows as "." and he's had no problem. As Shelly says, the real account info would be stored someplace else, I guess.

With this place, I do just hesitate to guess at much of anything. ;)

Just a gripe from me.

I'd be really happy if people would use the same name for their username and their personal details.

That way, when I get a message from somebody, I'd have a chance of knowing who the heck it is!

But it's so much fun, changing names xx

As long as when you change your name, you change it all the way!

When I'm talking to Hobby Horse in a thread, and then I get a message from Jane Smith, whose board name happens to be Hobby Horse but I don't know that Hobby Horse is Jane Smith, I don't have a chance!
