Brenda,I have a male friend that i have known since i was seven. He has been divorced and with his second partner and been there two years. He says she is getting worse. She wants to hold hands all the time and when they go out he must not talk to anyone unless he introduces her.He says he loves her but he can not be affectionate. He says that dont mean nothing but what he does for her says what he thinks. He said he knows people that are all over each other and one of the partners are cheating. He says he cant change and he was like this when she met him.She is trying to change him.Brenda if you want more then think again for your own happiness Annie

I'm sure you will Brenda - some people are not too good at actually demonstrating love, they need to be taught - get teaching now!!!!

Hi,

Thank you for asking Jules but i am fine, we have had a long talk he said he was sorry that he had hurt me and said that he did love me then gave me a loving hug and kiss. He finds it hard to show his feeling but he did say he will try and change. It does not matter who you are i think now and again we all need a bit of affection.
And i hope that i have loving memories that Ann has had.
Thank you to you all for your advice and veiws

yep - treasure it while you've got it I say - and without sounding like a merchant of doom, you never know what's round the corner so treasure every moment you have together. Not saying we didn't have fall-outs - we did, but never anything major and of course now I very much regret them, but hey, that's life!!

Oh Brenda - how awful - I feel for you, I really do. When my lovely Lawrence and I met, it was a "love at first sight" experience [don't laugh - it was] and quite honestly we couldn't keep our hands off each other - too much info I know. We never actually DID anything, it was the fifties and you didn't!! - though everything but!! I think you should reassess your relationship before you go any further. Do you have a heart-stopping moment when you see him from afar - when I spotted Lawrence when we were going on a date my heart used to well nigh leap out of my chest I was so thrilled to see him. You must have those feelings or it ain't love!!!!

And by the way, now he's gone, been gone nearly six years, I have those wonderful memories to hold in my heart until I die, the first date - I see him leaning on the school wall waiting for me to walk down the road to him, the night he returned from being away for a year and half doing his National Service in Singapore, the day we married and the day he died.

Some of us need n crave affection more than others, n some people think showing your feelings through affection isn't needed to be felt, to be known....

But........

If, when asked, you still don't get then I think there is a problem. The need to feel love is just as great as the need to be told you're loved n when either or neither of these is present the balance between the two will never be right.

Maybe there's a problem, have you tried talking..??
Has he always been like this or is it recent...??
Does he know how you feel....??

I used to look forward to my ex coming in from work everyday only to have that feeling disappear as soon as I saw his face when he walked thro the door......I could tell I wouldn't get one n to be honest I rather have gone without than have a cuddle with no feelings attached.............as I said, he's now my ex.

Love is something that needs to be felt, seen, heard n spoken.......

Wish you well :o)xx

It is very necessary to sort this before you get married, or you will have years of unhappiness. This is one reason why people look for other partners as it is so miserable without some gesture of affection. I have had 90 yr old patients , now without apartner, and they say the worst part is having no one to cwtch. Sorry, cuddle! Jean

Ohh Brenda love,

Is he normally like this? If so you may have to think whether you can bear the lack of affection.

If it is a one off, big hugs and dont worry,

Now I wish I'd been more diplomatic:)))

You really need to talk this through with each other and see if you can resolve it.....................I really hope you can work it out together.
