I just logged on and tried to update my AVG but it said update failed, tried several times but still the same update failed.
I am running the Anti-Virus just now but why wont it update, any help appreciated although I can't do anything at the moment while anti-virus is running.

Mine is the same. Have tried to update a number of times since about 11 o'clock. Have checked all of the components and it says they are upto date. Running a scan myself just to be sure.

Im The same Im trying to update mine from the site now.
if you google A.V.G free you should get a link to update,Im just doing that now,I will let you know if it works.

If the AVG Box is In black your not covered, even if your system is saying something else.

I'm no expert,and had this problem when It changed to 8,and I think we got the free edition through....www.filehippo.com and that is where I have Ccleaner.Try it.

I wonder if it is a problem with AVG then, I thought it was my laptop!!

Maybe I will try and update later and see if it works then.

Yes this is the free edition I have but it has always been fine up until now, scan running but I just can't get it to update!!

I did keep getting a message last week to say something was happening after the 27th June,but I cant remember what it said.
I should have taken notice:-((

They must be having server problems because mine just failed to update........maybe they have a virus lol

Pay?? I downloaded it free and it's updated every day for the last month without any problems. Im sure its just a technical hitch.

My AVG Icon at the bottom of the screen is black with a red mark in the middle so it is not working properly at all, still running scan though.

No I am not at the Panic stage yet!! Run a scan and it says system is ok, just wont update, will try again later.

No I still haven't seen any butterflies or bees yet.

We have AVG 8 I think it is when they stopped the AVG 7.5 you could download the newer version free, which I did. Up until now everything has been fine.

It's telling me that the component file is missing....so it is them and not us

Has your icon at the bottom of your screen changed to black instead of yellow,blue, green and red?

Think it is them, mine wouldn't connect to the update.

It is telling me that the connection with the update server failed and also says component error you may not be protected, even though it said it was up to date before.

It appears from the Grisoft website that there are three versions available.

AVG Free, which has Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware protection

AVG Anti-Virus Pro which is supposed to provide additional on-line protection and free tech support

AVG Internet Security which also has a firewall and anti spam options

Updating seems to timeout, hence the error message, so there is probably a problem with the grisoft site. I would leave alone and try again later.
