I enjoy being alone.

If I want someone intelligent to talk to
I go and talk to my goats!

I would love to be living alone, because then I could chose when to be on my own and when to be in company. Here I am sometimes alone but often someone is in the house with me but I would rather be alone than he be here, if that makes sense. When he is here I feel lonely, as he is not good company but restricts my freedom to do as I wish.
I have always been happy with my own company, and can curl up with a book, slob out in front of the tv, be on the computer or phoning friends, or have friends round or go out, what a wonderful array of choice.

Ahem ... I hope that you do apologise to yourself, Rose ... :-)

I don't know who said it or when, but I know the difference between ....
being alone, and being lonely.

I have people who love me, and I love being alone.
I am never lonely by myself.

Someone who said that is obviously very unhappy... perhaps lonely in a house full of people.
I hope she/he gets the help they need.

I would agree entirely with Wild.

I think in the context it was written in the other thread it was indeed meant as somewhat of an insult.

And of the person it was said about, my humble opinion, based on the little I know of him, would be

On GR? Regularly

Opinionated? Oh yes, good on him for that, me too.

Sad and alone? Never. (At least Not in the way it was meant)

I really think it's the individuals perception of the word
I very much prefer my own company & yet fully understand the concept of being alone in crowded room.

I haven't seen it, but if someone is rude enough to insult someone, they are probably the friendless ones.

How sad:(

I believe I may have an interest in this comment...:-)

I believe it was probably meant as an insult, or attempt at a jibe, because, really, on the scale of things, I have been insulted by a far better class of insulter than that! Professionals insulters have been in tears because of me!

lol

Anyway, the insulter obviously thought better of it and realised what a poor effort it was because they deleted it. I look forward to a much better attempt the next time.

If you say you are alone..people tend to say...either 'lucky you' or 'aww poor you' lol

My aunt cannot bear to be alone and consequently spends a lot of time out and about , my best friend however loves it so she can just 'mooch about' at home doing as she likes. (mindyou she does have a dog! and always think that makes a difference!)

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 8 Jul 2008 17:26

i suppose its how happy you can feel with your own company.I spend tooooo much time up in the small bedroom ,which is my study, on the PC doing look ups etc,OH is downstairs either listening to his music or watchingTV.i have often said to him that I would spend less time upstairs if he wanted me too ,but he says he is OK with me being on the PC cos he knows i am in the house and he doesn't feel he is alone. I guess for both of us it will be when we cant feel the others presence in the house. Altho I love doing the research etc I KNOW I would feel very alone if he was gone, and, probably drink too much vino!!

I love having time on my own and quite happy in me own company.

My friends on and off the net know sometimes I just like time to myself without talking to people if that makes me sad so be it but if you cant be happy in your own company who's can you be.
