You have to report him .He should be got rid of ASAP.However much you feel sorry he has problems.

Oh I know that I had no choice but to report him but when it is someone you get along with it just makes it that bit harder!!

I feel really angry because he has made me feel like shit and I havent done anything wrong..................!!!

This thread made me smile! Having bad time with my mum; yes she has vascular dementia, diagnosed about two years ago, but last two months has deteriorated greatly. The halifax been there with that one we're now on the medication dispenser (having found 3 stashes of medication in bedroom) only problem she doesn't know what day it is to follow it!!! Engrossed myself in GR more recently. the irony? I've been doing the research on behalf of my mother (who was adopted) the release of 1911 census will probably fit some missing pieces, the sad fact is she may not understand what it's all about?

Just to let you know I have changed my name from Jackie West Aussie to Whacky Jackie suits me better I think lol.

Went to see my brother today with my sister and we decided to clean his cupboard out, OMG what a mess. As I told you before he is still mobile so wanders all around the ward. We found stuffed Toys,
bits of paper, Perfume and 8 tubes of toothpaste in his cupboard. Seems he is hoarding things that he picks up. We mentioned it to the nurse and she said not to worry a lot of the Dementia Patients go around picking things up. She said it gives them some sort of comfort. Anyone else come across this that works with Dementia patients.
Spoke to the nurse also about my brothers health. He was 41 kgs before they put the plug in his stomach and he is not putting any weight on. Seems he walks a round all day and is burning it all off. They said the only time he sits down is when they are feeding him through the tube. He never sits when we visit he is on the move all the time. Bit of a worry. But we did get a couple of smiles out of him today thank goodness.

Ive just seen this and think its a great thread.
I have worked with elderly dementia/alzheimers
for the last eight years and can relate to everything said so far. Jacky, yes alot of them collect things and hide them.
Bambino I have the same problem of getting attatched!

Mum had only one thing on her mind ,and that was to go back to her own home.She refused to put any ornaments or photos in her room as she wouldn't be staying!!She had a lovely old table with lift up lid.She kept that in her wardrobe and if we couldn't find any of her clothes ,they would be in this table.!

We have a lady that is always packing her bags to go, in the end we had to hide her holdall untill her familly came to pick it up. She still gets everything out and puts them on her bed.
I find as a carer, i go to bed thinking about them and wake up thinking about them!

Hi guys, yes we used to hav a lady who collected toilet rolls, we could never find any in the main toilets but new where they'd gone - in her room in the drawer. Jackie glad to hear you got a couple of smiles out of your brother but yes dementia clients do like to collect things and are excellent at hiding things
