Just a short note to wish you all a happy, bright weekend and for those who have been in pain lately, a pain-free weekend.
We really cannot grumble about the weather can we? No, of course not. We had a mild winter last year, a reasonably good summer and now the Autumn has been full of sunshine.
I have been trying to buy myself a label printer. We have a label printer - a Brother - but it is far too big for us and I want a small, compact model which, at the tap on a knob, will print a label out for me. The one I chose is very expensive so am now looking at secondhand ones. I've just put in an offer so hope it is accepted.
My hands are rather trembly and my handwriting like a childs so feel rather ashamed of sending my Christmas cards out with such handwritten envelopes.

Morning Ladies. Back from my holiday in Cornwall, weather was lovely, well apart from 2 afternoons of rain. Had a lovely time with the grandchildren. Weather at home is lovely and sunny at the moment at least the wind and rain has stopped. Hope everyone in Scotland is OK and not flooded out.

Ros sounds like you had a lovely time at the craft fayre. Think if I went I would spend so much!!

Issy hope everything goes well for you at your fayre and with your cake, it is a long time since I made a wedding cake, always found it so nerve racking setting it up on the day.

Sylvia thank you for your lovely card. Hope your health is improving for you, nothing worse than not feeling well all the time.

Well in the time it has taken me to type this up the sun has gone in and it is now raining!!

Off now to start the advent calendars for my youngest two grandsons, they are by Bucilla and are in felt and every pocket has a little felt toy in that can hang on the tree. I made the older grand kids theirs when they were little, as two cannot have chocolate Just hope I can get them finished before the 1st. Ordered them from the USA direct and they took ages to arrive as they were held up in customs and for the first time I had to pay vat and import duty. Then on top of that Parcel Force charged me a £10 handling fee for collecting the money from me, so they worked out more expensive than I was planning on!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Sylvia you can get label printing programmes fro your ordinary printer. We have one we use for Christmas card labels but also have a brother that my other half uses for odd labels through the year.

Jo, good luck with the advent calendars

Should have said on my last message that I have posted all my November cards early because of the postal strikes in the hope you will receive them before your birthday!

I have done that too Jo, these strikes are a nuisance to people who send cards etc aren't they.

Morning everyone hope you are all keeping well. Weather here mixed rain and sun but at least it is not too cold. Received a letter from my doctors this mornng to go for a swine flu jab - not sure if I want to go for it wondering if they have tested it enough!!

Off now to get on with stitching the youngest grandchildren’s felt advent calendars one almost finished but the little felt toys that go inside the pockets take so long to sew they are so fiddly and have lots of sequins and beads, still they look nice when finished and as one of the little ones cannot have chocolate means that he still has something and can hang the toys on the Christmas tree. Have made all the grandchildren one and they get them out each year and they still look very bright and cheery.

Hope the Christmas card making is going well I am half way there, which for me is very good!!

Have a good day everyone

I have already sent out some of the overseas cards so i apologise if they arrive too early, I have so many to send I need to get them off. It is the writing of cards that takes the time.

Jo Jo Report 12 Nov 2009 22:27

Ann, I think it is better to get them early than after Christmas!! Will be sending mine tomorrow.

Hallo all,
Yes, I wonder where Sylvia has been lately, so quiet without her , good thing or bad thing???? You will soon discover why, if you've not discovered already. Yes, making, posting all, yes all, my birthday girls xmas cards. I bought a label printer to save me writing out all the addresses on the envelopes - looks real professional now. I had to do something as my writing was getting so bad. I used to blame it on learning shorthand and writing so quick, but I have developed a bit of a shaking hand as well, so now the label printer has managed to disguise these facts for me.
Johan and I have been so busy that we forgot to go for our 2nd anti griep jab. that is the Mexican flu jab yesterday. We have another chance tomorrow though.

Heather sorry to hear that you have been unwell, hope you are feeling back on top form soon.
Sylvia sounds like you have been very busy, I have worked out how to print the envelopes from my calendar now that I have put all the addresses in. Not sure if it is quicker. Have made all the Birthday Girls Xmas cards but if I put bubble wrap in to protect the beads they will be classed as thick cards and need a large stamp!! So think I will just fold them inside out for the post, what a silly postage system we have.

Hope the weather is OK where you are, just very windy here, at least it is not raining at the moment.
Off now to carry on with the grandsons advent calendars still have 20 of the felt toys for the pockets to make, they are so time consuming, still keeps me quiet!

Take care

Had my swine flu jab yesterday, had a very high temperature last night and my arm was killing me, feel a little better today my temperature has returned to normal and my arm only aches a little although where I had the jab is swollen and very warm, still sure it will be OK tomorrow.

Weather very windy and wet here again, thank goodness we are on high ground and not near a flood zone. Hope everyone else is OK.

Had kids and grandkids here for the day, 15 for dinner and tea to celebrate OHs birthday exhausted now so off to bed!

Good morning Ladies, so sorry for not being about much but life seems to be always so busy with my classes and we also managed to go down with bad colds that lasted ages and still coughing three weeks later.
Hope everyone is OK and thank you for the cards that have started arriving--Ann, Flo, Sylvia, Christine and Issy.
My classes are still busy and its the planning and checking out and doing new stuff that takes the time but still good fun.Have a lady coming for a private lesson on Weds, she comes twice a week to classes when in France but goes home this week and wanted to get another lesson in :)
We are off to the Isle of Man for Christmas and not yet booked a Ski trip, waiting for a late deal and looking at Lapland for the Northern lights and to see the Ice Hotel plus lots of snow for skiing.

xx Jill
