Glad I am not the only one who has trouble knowing what to leave out, never was a less is more person. Sarah we seem to have opposite problems. I have just nearly completed a page of our garden with 4 photos and thought I was being good having cut down the number of photos.

If she doesn't duplicate it on here, please read Daff's thread for her account of her day scrapbooking. I am still laughing.

Sun has just come out so I will go and take a photo of the garden page for you!!

Well, by popular demand..... here is something I made earlier, lolol (well, one of the very early presenters on Blue Peter was a rellie of mine... we shared our surname, even!!)

Are you sitting comfortably? I have a little story!

*A day in the life of a Novice Scrapper*

I did little bits of lots of things yesterday.... a bit of deadheading, and *glances at Ann, lol* a bit of *sticking* and yep... got it all over me!!

I tidied my sock drawer... wanted a particular pair to cheer me up, and knew they were in there.... somewhere!! All is now nice and tidy, and colour co-ordinated... well, sort of!

Then I started some washing... put some in tumble dryer... emptied, then filled the dishwasher... put away some of the clothes that are normally kept in the *spare* room so were languishing sulkily on top of the chest of drawers in our room.... sorted out my new printer... which had decided not to come out to play... but that was because *glares at Polgara* a certain cat has taken to investigating behind the unit!! Had to move everything to plug it back in, Grrrr!!!

Printed off some photos..... took some of the toys that Princess played with.... collaged then printed those off... then cut them all up... laid out a page.... dismantled an old photoframe to get a template for the main photo....... didn't like it... so tarted up the frame and popped the photo into it... looks lovely on my desk... then printed another photo... decided it was too big... dug out another empty photo frame, tarted it up with a couple of Princess embellishments...popped in photo... it looks lovely in littlies bedroom.......

back to scrapbook page, still empty, still forlorn looking..... I am still covered in glue... can't see the table for boxes of goodies, have now got about a square inch of space to work in........ half the clothes are still on the chest of drawers, even sulkier than they were before... mind, the sock drawer looks lovely! ;¬)) the tumble dryer has decided it wants to play up... I de-fluff it and IT stops sulking.......

Decide I don't like the background paper........ catches sight of the bright and cheerful Easter paper I bought cheep... errr I mean cheap, lol Sorry... couldn't resist!!

Re- arranged everything...... using lovely, cheerful home-made type factory paper in bright colours........ spent hours cutting out little ovals...... don't like them!!

Jethro wants his dinner... and scatters everything on the floor...

I yell at Jethro... pick everything up, then go and feed the trainee tigers....

R comes home... where oh where has the time gone?? By now it is 8.30 pm, no dinner on... nothing has been completed....... the house is a complete mess with bits of *stuff* scattered.... I have lost my reading glasses... stop giggling Ann!!...... and am reduced to wearing my computer glasses...... and I am STARVING!!!

R cooks sausage egg and chips, lol..... I am too knackered after my busy day... but I proudly show him my photoframes, and the new layout.... all that is glued down is the page edging, in lilac to match madam's t-shirt.

He looks suitably unimpressed, raises one eyebrow in a way he has, and turns telly on...

I fall into bed at 9.30, after a busy and uneventful day, wondering how one person (me!!) can make sooooo much mess without really even trying!

Well... I have got a shopping list now...... must go and do some serious shopping, some glue (I had a terrible time with those glue dots!) some felt for clouds, and something quick and easy for dinner!

Now.... it would seem that this is a familiar scenario???????

I really must go now……I need some more templates, and spare blades for the cutter thingy... that thick paper doesn't half kill a blade, doesn't it??? Lolol……. I am sure I shall find other stuff to buy…. And you aren’t far wrong on the other thread, Ann….. I am quite likely to be stuck to the pages of one of my creations, lolol

I did notice yesterday that my hands still have a bit of a tremble when trying to do really fine stuff, and I am a little awkward holding things… I shall have a looksee if there are any suitable tongs out there… I have dug out a spare pair of tweezers to be going on with.

Oh…. And today is no easier than it was yesterday, lol…… it is why I am still here and not out shopping yet!!

Love

Lol Daff, thank you, still laughing!

I thought you had been and gone and come back!!

I haven't got very far this morning either, sorted out a backing page (I think), chose three photos, just sitting here occasionally sneaking a glance to see if I still like it!

MrDaff Report 21 Aug 2009 18:14

*coughs gently*

ermmmm... forgot the *something quick for dinner* and guess who came home early???? Yep.... still nothing really done... well, not noticeable stuff, anyway... Still don't like the little ovals, but I have a better idea, now, lolol!!

But I bought LOADS!!....... felt in every colour imaginable, loads of stick on thingies..... a 12 x 12 plastic box..... foam thingies.... pearl beads... lots of ribbons....... double sided sticky tape....... well, allsorts, really, lol... R will be banning me from there!! Especially if I don't finish this page!!

Well.... better go.... I have some mince defrosting.... already cooked and in gravy... I have some potatoes boiling.... and there are some frozen-from-fresh green beans in the freezer...... gourmet meal, lol!

R will forgive you if and when you produce the first finished page Daff. Have you stuck it all down yet?

We went out for a run this morning, went to Costa Coffee in the old cattle market for a change and went to Home sense. They don't always have the same stock but seem to have all sorts of odds and ends. I got a 12x12 and an 8x8 scrap book £6.99 and £4.99 good value, not the same as the ones I have but the smaller one is Papermania with an antique type gatefold cover Not sure how well it will work, it is post bound but half the pages come from the left and the other half from the right.

I am still working on the first of my double page spread of granddaughter at Centre parc. Pleased with it so far although it has taken longer than others I have done.

Hi, Ann, I am finding it hard to settle down and do some scrapping at the moment, keep feeling tired....must be the new pills, or not a lot of inspiration,I had hoped to go out to do some more snapping, but we are haveing so much rain, makes you wonder if it is ever going to stop.....
maybe its all being saved up ready for our holiday, fingers X. I am waiting for my daughter to scan some of the photos folk off here have sent me , then I can start the G.R.scrapbook...the printer is in her office up two flights of stairs, I was wondering if I can get a compact one to keep down stairs.....
Daff seems to be doing all sorts of stuff, the mind boggles at her description of her scrapping glue and all !!! but I know it will all be worth it in the end, cant wait to see the finished pages...what a lady......bless her...

Hi Jean
You can buy really cheap printers these days so why not look around for one for downstairs then you wont have to rely on your daughter. We actually have not had much rain now for a week, dull and overcast some days but dry nearly all the time, T is for ever watering the baskets.

I fully expect one morning to come on here and find that Daff has glued herself into a page Lol!!!!

I am sure it is your body adapting to new medication that is making you feel tired. Don't fret about it, you will get back to scrapping when you are ready.

Hi Ladies

Have been busy all weekend with family stuff- well I actually thought I ought to do some housework for a change so I blitzed upstairs and did ALL the ironing, plus mended some work trousers for oldest son. So, that leaves me with free time to scrap this week!!

I did slip out for a couple of hours on Saturday morning as the craft shop in Tidworth was having a Flea Market (where people bring their second hand craft stuff to sell off) and got a bargain - a Zutter binding machine for just £20.00. They're retailing in the shop for about £60.00. Just need to find time to play with it now. I also bought some chalkboard paint when we were in the Range so that I can paint the chipboard pages of mini albums and then write messages in coloured pencils for the journalling.

So many ideas, so little time.

Unfortunately no scrapping today as I have to get two blocks done for a patchwork round robin which I have to hand over tomorrow. Was just in the planning stage yesterday when my little grandson brought his parents to visit so had to abandon that for the rest of the day. It was worth it though!

Jean - the GR scrapbook album sounds lovely! And my personal printer sits down by the side of the sofa, just out of sight but easily accessible to plug into my laptop when I need it. I think it was just over £50.00 but I've seen them cheaper. The other one is upstairs with the main computer.

Morning all.... I have just finished my very first page, lol.... I have two others all in the planning... and now have all I need to complete them, but they are for my mum, and I wanted to practice a bit first!! For this one, I wanted a style which was bright, cheerful, childish, and Playschoolish, lol... it is the introduction page for my little granddaughter's visit last week.....

I thought it would be a good one to start with, as I wanted the effect to look childlike, so if I messed up too much, it would fit in with the style, lol I am fairly happy with it, although I couldn't get the chunkier paper in the colours I wanted... the main sheet is bright yellow, and looks like it has been made from paper mache, and I wanted all the matting to be the same... I have used felt, though, so it doesn't have quite the same *feel* about it, but looks ok.

Can't wait to see your GR pages, Jean....

I have Fiskar templates and a couple of cutters... are the X-cut ones better?

Oh well... must go... off to the dentist soon! Oh... and Hobbycraft is virtually on the way back!! ;¬)) With a slight detour for Range.......... ;¬)) ;¬))

Ooooooh.... guess what!! I was such a good girl... avoided Hobbycraft... went to Dunelm for the plastic tablecloth I keep forgetting whenever I go out..... and we have a new Dunelm, with a small, but very nice craft section!!

Jean... I have e-mailed a copy of my plaskool page, lol... Ann, would you like one, too, or shall I bring it up with me when I come over?? And pretty please will you show me how to use your favourite tools and do your favourite techniques if I promise *Does Brownie Promise salute thingy* not to squish glue everywhere?

My next page is *Who is the prettiest Flower in my Garden*..... I want a central photo of Princess Dynamo... nestled into a mat that looks like a flower... and the photo I have in mind doesn't show her face.... then all around it a series of smaller photos of her watering the various bits of garden, none of which show her full face, with finally the last one showing her face!! I have taken loads of close ups of the flowers, and want either to use those greatly blown up as mats or backgrounds... or try and make material *petal* type ones....... I also have some old silk roses that I am happy to cannablise (sp, I have mislaid my spellchecker, lol)

Ninja Lady... I saw some chipboard stuff.... they were very nice, and I was tempted to buy.... but kept to stuff that is basic at the moment!! Do you cut your own?
