Farmtown weekly review.

It was suggested that a weekly review should be done of Farm Town, and as Eldrick is hardly likely to wander in there with his metal detector, I thought I’d give it a go.

First of all, during a week of frenzied crop growing, most of us seem to have a farm town buddy list bigger than our face book friends list. This is partly due to the need to exchange crops, and partly due to the annoying problem of being booted off a farm in the middle of harvesting a whole field of pumpkins to yourself. Adding the farmer to your buddy list means you can quickly get back to the relevant farm and getting re-hired. This is when you have finished screaming at partners and kids about it!

Then there is the problem of hitting the home button. For me this only happens on a field full of said pumpkins, never grapes or any of the cheaper crops. It has been decided in the market place that the home button needs to be moved, rather than us farmers being more careful while harvesting. Yes, let’s change the design of the site rather than concentrate properly eh?LOL

Ah! the market place. My goodness, you’ll never see so many beggars congregated in one place. Quite rude some of them are too! I’ve often asked what is a ‘joooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooob’ and totally ignore the ‘work plz’ or the repeated ‘hireeeee meeeeeee’ But there are a few chatty friendly people in there from time to time. There are also those who ask to be on your buddy list before you’ve even said hello! Who are these people? What planet are they on?

Then there are the ones who moonwalk on the barrels *glares at Hayley * and those who plead poverty, or to be saved from the ironing, or who have aging husbands in need of viagra, five kids to feed, cows with udder rot, and one who said, ‘don’t’ bother hiring me, just kill me’. Some very inventive people out there!

I have a stalker, he’s there in every market place I go in! I’ve told him so too. An Australian farmer called sheep sh*****r!

Then eventually you get hired. It might be that you are one of ten people to harvest just 5 patches of potatoes. Gee thanks! Or you might get lucky and have an entire farm of said pumpkins all to yourself, of which you will only get three of them before accidentally hitting the home button. And that’s on a good day!

Or…worst crime of all, and one which seems to be repeatedly committed, is to be hired to a farm with nothing on it! What’s that about?

No…wait! There is a worse crime. One that should be punished by permanently being stuck on an empty farm in the muck heap. The trees. (cue music). Yes it is a huge sin to just harvest someone’s trees without asking. It causes the biggest upsets in the market place, with many farmers returning disgruntled and angry that their precious fruit has been taken. FGS you get money for it, but no, that’s not the point.

On the other hand, some come in with ONLY trees to harvest. I had one the other day who had about 20,000 trees (ok about 1000) in close-as-possible-rows 5 deep. Boy was that fun to do….NOT!

More soon…..

Love the review TW. That pesky Home button has caught me out a few times. lol
I often use the starving kids routine to try to get work in the market. :o))

I lost a days farming yesterday when my server went down all day. :o(
To get my crops in, I had drive out to the towns cemetry to get a wireless connection. lol

I had a bonus today though. Planted out loads of grapes. Re-visited a couple of hrs later & a strip of 15 squares had turned into coffee with 2 days growth!!! *rubs hands together with glee*

I've also named my sheep & chickens Shut Up..........They don't 'arf make a racket. lol

Stevie

Stevie Report 29 Jun 2009 15:33

I'll keep an eye out for you Tatty Patch.

I to have visited many farms. Normally when I'm hiring someone & have a nose around. Some of those farms seem to have been planned out in great detail.
Like you Jax, I too just plant strips of crops, to try & maximise its output. I only have a few bits & pieces of furniture (mail box in centre of the field. lol).

Farmer Barley Mow.
