Hi Mummo,
So glad to hear things are getting better. Remember to take care of yourself - I expect, when he comes out, that Eddie will need lots of fetching & carrying!
Have the doctors given you any idea of how long Eddie will have to stay in hospital?

It's such good news, when you look back just a week you can see how much Eddie has improved,
your daughter will be so surprised.
Have they fitted his brace yet?

*** Mummo *** Report 13 Dec 2009 10:40

Hi Fay, he has had the brace on a couple of times but they are waiting for the man to come back to make a few alterations to the neck brace as it is digging in Ed and its a bit uncomfortable, oh and l have to learn how to put it on Ed.........that should be a laugh.

Morning Mummo
Things seem to be on the up for both of you now and you sound much happier ... having your daughter home for 3 weeks will give you an even bigger boost :O)

Shame on Eddie's employers, surely they must know how serious his accident was.

I've watched Dickinson's Real Deal, sometimes those dealers can be quite crafty until David comes along lol
When you're in hospital visitors are usually a real tonic!

I'm sure your more than able to sort his brace out for him......it might be upside down and back to front but you'll get their in the end,....lol
So once they have sorted the fitting out will Eddie be able to start getting mobile again ?

*** Mummo *** Report 14 Dec 2009 19:17

Hi all, home early tonight !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ed was a bit upset today as they told he he won't be home for Christmas , probably be sometime in January, so l told him we will aim for his birthday on the 26th and if he comes home earlier it will be a bonus, poor love l did feel for him.
Yesterday they were short of staff so told Eddie that he had to feed himself (impossible when laying flat on your back) and he got a bit of meat stuck in his throat and was choking, luckly the man in the next bed rang his buzzer and a nurse was walking pass the door and saw what was happening .........next thing the crash team were there working on him to get the meat out and it was the tiniest piece but just got stuck and it doesn't help as Ed has a limited opening in his mouth so can only eat tiny amounts , thankfully they got it out but it did frighten him, so poor Ed didn't get any dinner yesterday. I always make sure l'm there for his evening meal so l feed him and then leave him a sandwich for the evening.
Anyway when l left him tonight he was feeling a lot better and we did manage a little kiss (blushes), lol. xxxx
PS yes Ann he does read and l have left him a couple of books, mind you not easy when your laying flat and a collar on, x

Wildgoose Report 14 Dec 2009 19:37

So pleased things are getting better all the time but I was disturbed by part of your message 'short staffed..had to feed himself...meat stuck...choking..luckily the man in the next bed rang....nurse passing by saw...' Gracious me, luck shouldn't come into it, but relieved he's none the worse for wear.

Evening Mummo

That's a shame but he can't rush things (easier said than done I know ) but I can understand how disappointed he must be.
Their are many Internet sites where you can download books for IPod or MP3 players and their are a lot of book that are also out of copyright that are free to download like the old classics,he could listen to these on headphones or maybe take in some of his favorite music for him to listen to.

Sending Love and ((( hugs ))) to you all.x

Hello Mummo.....well I'm pleased to hear that Eddie is continuing to improve , I hope he isn't to down hearted at the prospect of Christmas in the hospital , as you say he needs to focus on the thought of getting home around his birthday time .
I'm shocked to hear about the choking incident , I guess no matter how short staffed they are they will make sure that that doesn't happen again......I'm glad that Eddie was ok .

Hi Mummo,
Well, if Ed is still in hospital for Christmas - you'll have to have it when he comes out! You never know - we may even have snow by then.
