Or "Je ne regrette rien"?

Apparently the average person has 6 major regrets.and spends 116 hours a year dwelling on them!

These are the top 20, I am guessing most of us on this site can agree with no 10 :-)

1. Not traveling more and seeing more of the world

2. Not keeping in touch with more friends from the past

3. Taking too little exercise

4. Not saving enough money

5. Taking up smoking

6. Not working harder at school

7. Choice of career

8. Wasting years with the wrong partner

9. Eating unhealthily

10. Not asking grandparents more about their lives before they died

11. Not learning to speak a foreign language properly

12. Not spending enough time with family and friends

13. Not telling a relative who’s now dead that I loved them

14. Drinking too much alcohol

15. Not undertaking a once in a lifetime challenge

16. Not learning to play a musical instrument properly

17. Falling out with a friend and not patching things up

18. Choosing the wrong subjects at school or university

19. Not standing up to a bully

20. Not taking a gap year

Do you have a list of either? and does it match up with the ones above? I'm 7 from the top and 3 from the bottom lol.

Regrets......Lost count on mine but Im more for counting my blessings and moving forward....past is the past...... I could cringe at some of mine!!

Not going to art college in Newcastle when I was 18, because my parents insisted I live with my Grandmother instead of sharing a flat with my mate. Should have b****y well stood up to them !

Became a librarian instead.

Ann I think it is more the things you haven't done that you regret, mine would be that I was too shocked to react the way I wish I had to someone who let me down badly, there's still a halfpint of lager with her name on...for me to throw over her lol.

roll on the day Rose!!!! at least you have a chance for revenge - my in-laws are long gone and if there is an afterlife, they'd better never get in my face!!!!

I never told my dad I loved him till about 2 hours before he died. Men don't tend tio do that sort of thing - and we often love our dads unreservedly. As I did. :-)

If I had not seen him that day, would he have ever known :-S

Some of the things on the 'regret' list are a bit tame imho. Unless you're at death's door, you could actually do something about some of them!! I have a couple of regrets, one of which caused me a lot of grief over a number of years, but has now been consigned to the recycling bin :-D.

I can partially tick 5 and 7 on the 'to do' list. Not all it's cracked up to be. Not interested in 6, 8, 9 or 10, but 1 would be nice :-D

2 from the top and 1 from bottom lists.

I'm more of a count my blessing person like Mersey but a major regret for me is not sorting out a misunderstanding with my sister before she died, I will now never know why she stopped contacting me.

The 1 from the bottom list is more of a dream than a 'to do' to win the lottery and help my children and grandchildren out.

Like you No 10 is one I wish I had done. :-)

40% for the first list, but only one matches on the second! I'd add to the first, 'not meeting/seeing Mireille Mathieu', the wonderful singer of a version of the thread 'title'.

Hello Mr Daff, I remember Mireille Mathieu well, have just gone to listen to her singing on youtube, I hadn't realised how much my former manager ( also French) resembled her!

Have done the African Safari - definitely should be on anyones list. Would love to see the Northern lights, on a trip to the Arctic Circle.

Don't know if this would be on anyone elses list, but I would LOVE the chance to go wingwalking!

Do NOT come into it, some of the others are only marginal and I would not lose sleep over it
7 is a dodgy one because I loved what I did but I would have liked to have trained as an architect

I often think I wasted years on the wrong partner but they made me what I am today plus OH was still a baby when I 1st got married so I had to wait around a bit (don´t fret h was 6 lol )

My wish list is definite
1. Win the Lottery YES
2. Travel the world YES
5 I would like to see the Pyramids but that comes in travelling the world
Been there and done that with the dolphins and not tame ones but I would love to do it again ..Sharks NO WAY
7 well I live abroad and have worked abroad but I wish I had done it earlier a regret maybe
8 I have renovated houses but yes with my lottery win I would love to build my own (well design)

Safari´s do not interest me and I have run my own business twice one of those I set up from scratch when I was 17 (shame there was no money in it ).

So my real wish list is Win the lottery, design and have built my own house (already down on paper). Travel and see more of the world (whilst the house is being built) and set up a trust for a world wide dogs home

Not a lot to ask really I just need to win the lottery.

10/10 Rose ;-). But still things I would still like to do in my remaining 40 years or so. One is to see the stately home a mile from where I live. I bet everyone fails to visit their nearest beauty spot or stately home :-D

And I would like to climb the biggest mountains in Anglesey and Cambridgeshire without any oxygen :-D

Not that many regrets for me personally

Have been a miserable cow sometimes with PMT and have said things too that I shouldnt have said .

I do have one BIG regret though that I was maybe too harsh on our daughter when she was a kiddy. I was brought up in the war years and was an evacuee so had different guidelines. To me black was black and white was white and NO grey in between. My mum was a strict mum but also very loving
Our daughter loves us both to bits but has told me she was a bit frightened of my tongue and didnt want to displease me when she was a girl This I do regret .

More though is I wish I could have shielded our daughter from all the crap life threw at her . I regret I couldnt have shielded her from some of that . We have supported her all the way going through what she has done but its left her very vulnerable and unsure of herself. I wish I could take that from her
