As Jean said Joyce, please don't worry about putting up this thread. It is natural to be worried. But stay positive if you can and be strong. Let's hope they can get you sorted out now. And positive thoughts and prayers that it hasn't come back. <3

Joyce,
It's a good thing that you are having these tests.Prevention better than cure.
As Ann says we hope they get you sorted out as you have had so many problems over the last few years
Stay positive ,and just think that as its 20 years since you had cancer...that is a long time..it would normally have come back before that.It is 60 years since I had it and I always think that I had my bit.
It's good that you can come on here and get our thoughts instead of bottling it up.
Stress causes more problems than we know!

Joyce

I will say a special prayer for you, remember that at least your doctor has done the right thing by making sure that you get any medication and care that you may need.

You have had good advice from people on here, try to remember what they have said.

As I just said to you Joyce, have the tests done, try not to worry about what it might be until you have the results. I know it's easy for me to say but no point making yourself ill with the worry.

Take care and stay warm

No need to feel sorry for sharing your anxiety Dutch. It is understandable how worried you are.

Hope all goes well for you and that your fears are unfounded. It is the not knowing that is making you feel so afraid.

Look after yourself.

Unexplained Aneamia is often the result of internal bleeding - that can be anything from an ulcer to piles , and will firstlyusually be treated with Iron suppliment.

A camera up .and a camera down will ( hopefully) show what is bleeding, Cancers dont normal bleed.

Why do I know these things? Because my mother s exacly the same ( and is due a blood transfusion) followng another blood test which shows anaemia again ( for no apparent reason)

I wouldn't be suprise if you had an ulcer, the ammount of worrying you do. Keep calm and hopefully its something trivial, be an optomist.

Hi Penny i have had Aneamia since i was 17 yrs old and when i was due to have my first son the docter in the hospital ask why my docter did,nt find this ,so i had blood tranfusion before he was born ,and i lost the blood they gave me so i had another 4 pints of blood and course of iron injections thery were awful ,so im trying to stay postive Jan my OH never slept that night as he was worried about me

Dutch, you may just have developed what many elderly people can suffer with with age in that you not absoring and retaining enough iron,,,,,,this can be helped by B12 +folic acid injections usually @ monthly intervals or less depending on how lack of iron is affecting you......it may result in long term or till a satisfactory level is reached then on to tablets........if you have not noticed anything untowards by way of feeling ill or signs in fuctions then dont worry.

and as for internal bleeding,,,,dont be afraid of that statement as no two people react the same or show the same symptoms for the same thing,,,,,that is scaring you without positive proof that is the problem......your doctor and med staff are the experts, listen to them.!

Suzanne Report 30 Nov 2012 21:14

dont worry about your low blood count, you said you have had anemia since the age of 17 so your count will be lower than normal due to the anemia, you also say you have trouble with the toilet, well a side effect of taking iron tablets is trouble with not being able to go. dont worry about the endoscopy,my dad had one 6m ago and he has serious heart problems and was awake during the procedure and only found it a little uncomfortable .
pernicious anemia has nothing to do with blood loss, its to do with the stomach not being able to absorb vitamin b12 from your food,my husband has had the condition since he was 32,hes 49 now and still has vitamin b12 injections every month.
