surely treating the sympton not the cause? It has been remarked about overweight children and families walking around eating junk food. See it often in Gloucester, walking along eating a huge sausage roll or pasty, children in buggies eating doughnuts etc. These are not cheap. More education might help. But how about giving a proportion of benefits as vouchers to spend on healthy food, vegetables, fruit, milk etc? Would they eat it though if they had it? It has to start with the parents. |

Im obese and on benefits but I dont drink, don't smoke and eat healthy foods....I can't go to the gym as im disabled and can barely walk let alone use that sort of equipment!!! I'm in pain 24/7....... |

It's not likely to become statutory - as others have said, apart from being an idiotic idea that shows, yet again, how detached from reality this government is, it's too difficult to monitor. |
