I now have my sensible hat on, I too was confused for a while as to why it would be left half way up the building.

Having thought long and hard I have come to the conclusion that it is for elf and safety. Just in case some of the local yoof after a night on the razz happen upon it and decide to climb onto the platform, imagine the trouble if one of them was to fall off and break his stupid neck.

Now, how it gets up and down is another matter, again I suspect pulleys from the roof.

Anyway, Hayley we look froward to your Monday morning update, make sure you are wrapped up warm, especially if there is snow on the ground !! M

BTW I didnt sit watching them but everytime I looked up they were eye level with me ;-)

The older ones have controls either on the roof or the ground level, depends which sort of platform. The newer ones do have remote control units.
