We are quite limited with the shows we get up here
but OH and myself love to go to the theatre and tomorrow we are
going to see 'Soul Sister' at His Majesty's Theatre Aberdeen, its
about the life and times of Ike and Tina Turner and features all her
classic hits.
Anyone else like the theatre and whats been your favourite show
to date.

Love the theatre Emma,

We belong to a theatre/events club which go to a a lot of the London shows. we pay in monthly. Saying that we haven't been on many trips lately.

The last trip to see a show in London was Christmas 2011 at the Albert Hall. It was a Christmas concert with Lesley Garret which was very good.

My favourite show was the Lion King, such a brilliant production, also Sister Act.

The worst a few years ago was Fame. I was expecting it to be like the TV show but it wasn't. It was dull!

Our local theatre puts on a lot of tribute acts, the last one at Christmas was T Rex and David Bowie and was really good.

We tend to see concerts more, this year so far we have booked to see Suggs from Madness and his one man show and also Simple Minds who are touring this year.

We are lucky being only 50 miles from London and an Hours drive from Cambridge where they stage lots of good shows and concerts.

I have seen a lot of London shows over the years, but now as a wheelchair user it would be too much like hard work to travel up to London now, even though I live in commuting distance

Apart from seeing French and Saunders farewell tour, the last show and probably the one I have enjoyed the most was Jersey Boys..

Les Miserables seemed really good first time I saw it, but it seemed to lack something the 2nd time years later...the same the 2nd time I saw Buddy....maybe the answer is...dont go a 2nd time :-D

We used to live within easy reach of the London Theatres but now mostly go to Bristol for the theatre. Favourite has to be Les Miserables, although love Blood Brothers and the Lion King was good, love Joseph. Was a bit disappointed in South Pacific and were not as keen as most people on Phantom, saw Evita at Southampton and enjoyed it. Tend to prefer musicals these days as, even with hearing aids, plays lose some of the narrative with my poor hearing. When we lived in Befordshire we went to some really good amateur productions at stevenage.

I hope you enjoy the show Emma :-D

Jax must see Jersey boys and Wicked, have Les Mis on DVD 25year show, loved
it.
Ann we also prefer musicals these days, seen Chicago several times and would
go and see Rocky Horror show again.
Our worst mistake was a amateur production of King and I. :-( :-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 22 Jan 2013 15:37

Oh the shame!

I live about five miles from the Chichester Festival Theatre and the last time I went was for my fortieth birthday and now I am turning sixty!

We saw The Tempest and OH went prepared to be bored because it was Shakespeare and he is only for the high-brow.He was amazed at how much he enjoyed it.

I have also only been to the cinema twice in the last twenty years!

I think I can beat that Sharron, only been to the cinema once in over 20 years. :-D

Looking forward to it...saw the film years ago and loved it then....must be well over 50 years ago!

Love the theatre - musicals, plays, anything really. Don't get to London as often as I would like because train fares and theatre tickets are a bit pricey but go when we can. Last thing I saw in London was Blood Brothers. Also saw Lady in the Van at the Dolman Theatre at Newport, S. Wales and a couple of months ago saw Calendar Girls at our little local theatre.

Didn't think I would get to hairdressers this afternoon due
to heavy snowfall for the past couple of days.
Heavy under foot and quite tiring trying to walk, but got
there in between the showers.
So being picked up door to door for the theatre, knowing
the situation here the town centre will be clear.
Daughter and SIL enjoyed the show so we are looking
forward to seeing it. :-)
