we just don't care about your career at Tesco thank you - all we would like you to do, if it's not too much trouble, is go and infest some other thread or start one of your own - we have all had enough of you

well after days of debating I think we are all agreed that same sex partnerships are fine - the only issue I suppose is, can they take place in church and what are the legalities of it all in the case of, say death, of one partner

for me it should be civil partnerships with equal rights to both parties and the same rights as married heterosexual couples - why should it be any different, and why should same sex partners be denied happiness with someone they love and wish to spend the rest of their lives with

*snorts at Hayley*

Kaye, my MP abstained. A man of no convictions. Tory, obviously.

John, do stop it. You've become the pub bore.

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 9 Feb 2013 09:16

I love the idea that any MP who abstained is homophobic. Very grown up debate about a very difficult subject. I would have voted for the Bill personally, I have homosexual friends same as a lot on here. I like them very much. I think they like me. They are a mixture of camp and theatrical and very down-to-earth and caring pillars of the community. I find the "normal" way of homosexual sex to be "abnormal" and "unnnatural" and tell them if asked. The rebuttal is usually "don't knock it till you have tried ir".

I was part of the swinging sixties, but I do have to say as an old man now that the sexual revolution has not done our society any favours. We are coming apart at the seams. But if you think that makes me or many who have similar opinions homophobic, you are well off the mark.

And you need to find out why an MP abstained or voted against before you label him or her. Some might just quibble that the law has not been put together properly, that legislation has been cobbled together. And it may be that the House of Lords will pass it back to the Commons for the next Milliband Government to re-draft.

so you didn't do the decent thing then
