Has he finally gone now. Is it safe to come back onto the board.

I won't hold my breath. I have seen all this before.

Sometimes, things aren't as simple as we may believe or would like them to be. For those who like to get to the heart of the matter, the following may be interesting. Make a cup of tea first though.

GENERAL SYNOD

A RESPONSE TO THE GOVERNMENT EQUALITIES OFFICE CONSULTATION
-“EQUAL CIVIL MARRIAGE”- FROM THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

DET, the C. of E. has many clergy who are homosexual, but I don't think there is an agreement to be celebate. It is those who become Bishops who are to be asked to take the vow of celibacy.

A few years ago, a local clergyman left his wife and two children to live with another man. His wife and children were obviously left suddenly homeless as they had to vacate the Vicarage because the vicar was no longer there. It caused great sadness in many places for many people.

Ann, I don't think that the Minister who resigned was completely lacking in Christian values, I guess he was simply being true to himself and his conscience. I'm sure you yourself must have strong feelings on some things and would consider withdrawing support if your conscience was pricking you and you were unhappy.

I get confused as well. I think I will just accept what ever the Government decides and I will go along with it. There will always be "fors" and "against" on this subject so let us just get on with life.

(I note the gifted Munchkin is still with us)

One thing I am finding hard to understand is, yes I agree that some people just don't like the thought of gays and that aside, but as christians are we not taught from day 1 , as part of the faith is love and understanding learning to accept people for never to mock or judge and forgiveness and to forgive them that have sins against us, ( disclaimer I am not saying that being gay is a sin) and that God loves and welcomes everyone in to his kingdom and home which I have always through was church, so like many I finding it hard why the church is wobbling on this.

If we were a bit more polite to each other, Chrissie's post at 1052 would not have been missed. It was her first post for 6 months, and she must have been a bit shocked by post that immediately followed hers. Her post was about the subject matter of the thread and she has been totally ignored. Can't remember exactly what she said, but it may have been about Findus beef lasagne.

Quote from John after I said my MP abstained in the vote-

"I love the idea that any MP who abstained is homophobic. Very grown up debate about a very difficult subject."

I didn't say he was homophobic, John, I said he was a man of no convictions.

Next time do read what's actually been written before you're so insulting.

We answer the posts that engage us the most, others may well reply to something I don't. Stop using other people to justify your comments, I am now truly sick of it.
