Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world,
real or imaginary. We know we takeresponsibility for all we have done
and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection,
we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took

The melody out of music,

The pride out of appearance,

The courtesy out of driving,

The romance out of love,

The commitment out of marriage,

The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,

The learning out of education
The service out of patriotism,

The Golden Rule from rulers,

The nativity scene out of cities,

The civility out of behaviour,

The refinement out of language,

The dedication out of employment,

The prudence out of spending,

The ambition out of achievement or

God out of government and school.

And we are NOT the ones who
eliminated patience and tolerance
from personal relationships
and interactions with others!
YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party.....
even if I don't remember which one it was.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps.....
with a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before
.....my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time
because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find is
in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN,
and I think I am having the time of my life!

Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel; I desperately gave myself a personal pat down.
I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing.

Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My husband has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition.
My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. His theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying conclusion. His theory was right. The parking lot was empty.

I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all, "Honey," I stammered; I always call him "honey" in times like these. "I left my keys in the car and it has been stolen."

There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard his voice. "Are you kiddin' me", he barked, "I dropped you off"!!!!!!! Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, "Well, come and get me." He retorted, "I will, as soon as I convince this policeman I have not stolen your car."

Yep it's the golden years

My o.h. never knows what day it is or is always asking me the date etc - I kept telling him to check the tv mag but oh no, that was too difficult. At Christmas I gave him a new clock, quite a large wall one. It shows the time, day, date and the temperature. and also the phase of the moon and what week it is! Sadly it isn't programmed to tell him where he left his specs or his keys lol

Good.

But I keep forgetting to take it.

Rose, have you tried the DI Thorne books by Mark Billingham, I've found them quite good.

I also like books by Jeffrey Deaver.

oooh Susan that's a hard one, it's easier to say what I don't read lol.
Thinks hard ( well harder than I did about what day it is anyway!).

I don't, as a rule, like 'misery' books, set in the slums or the blitz and full of poverty and angst. ;-), nor science fiction, and not historical novels particularly though I used to read those when I was younger.

I like a good murder :-) or detective stories ( used to read a lot of Ed McBain). I like a bit of non-fiction, history, travel, the occasional biography. I quite often get out books on psychic stuff, life after death etc.

I've got lots of favourites at home which get an airing, poetry, Bill Bryson, Beverley Nichols ( love those! especially those about his houses and gardens). Harry Potter, and of course Lord of the Rings which gets read at least once a year lol.

Stephen
I learned a way of remembering things from a book years ago, it was very good and it worked.
I've always remembered the phrases but can't for the life of me remember the codes to crack them!

PollyinBrum

PollyinBrum Report 27 Feb 2013 15:54

Rose,

There was a book published many years ago on how to develop a super memory.

I read it a few times it was very interesting.

Sorry , can't remember what it was called or who the author was.

I'm sure the Librarian will know. .
