on the way to Cornwall used to go through a place called "Indian Kings" - very intriguing

People outside Cardiff seem to find Splott funny-sounding.

Near Walsall there is a place called Bloxwich. Have no idea why that is funny either, but many outside the Midlands are very amused :-S

Not a strange name really, but the local council are constantly replacing the signs, because some people think it's funny to blank out the first letters of each word.

Back of the Brook and Back of Ecton, both in Staffordshire; Barton in the Beans, Leicestershire; Shittington, Bedfordshire , Scratchy Bottom, Dorset.

Staffy Knot I know Shittington / Shitlington and present day Shillington very well. Just a few miles from me and my kids used to go to school there.

thanks for all the names so far, keep up the good work.

also remember chip shop and moor shop hamlets/villages near tavistock in devon, apparently its where the miners had to shop using the tokens or 'chips' that they were paid with. naturally the shops were run by the mine owners and had much higher prices than the shops in tavistock
