Susan10146857 Report 15 Jun 2013 01:32

Today I saw a strange sight whilst walking the dogs in the woods. Tied to branches with coloured string were feathers and twigs...some feathers were stuck into the ground......any ideas.

JustJohn Report 15 Jun 2013 01:32

Posh has gone into burlesque??????

Edit. Posted at same time. No. But sounds very intriguing :-)

JustJohn Report 15 Jun 2013 01:38

Susan with. Could they be dream catchers?

Susan10146857 Report 15 Jun 2013 01:41

I googled too.....not as far as I know......there were quite a few of them so someone had taken a lot of time over the task.

A 'free spirit' 'free spiriting'?

In other words, a numbskull with too much time on their hands :-D

They probably talk to 'crystals' (ie stones) at home.

I had a pet pebble once......

But it rolled away...

I expect the wood nymphs were having a party Susan *nods head wisely* :-)

JustJohn Report 15 Jun 2013 20:38

Can't be anything boring like that, Carol. You are such a killjoy :-) ;-)

Nymphs and Shepherds come away,
In the Groves let's sport and play,
For this, this is Floras Holy day.

whilst you express your Jollity.

It is 'dream catchers' quite common is some countries. Must be somebody who passes that way regularly and keeps adding or a mystical ceremony fascinating. <3

Don't go down at night who knows what might be there!!

maggiewinchester Report 15 Jun 2013 22:39

Dream catchers - not really quite common in some countries.

Quite common in shops that sell stones and call them 'crystals', the same shops that sell things that look like dream catchers, with wind chimes on the bottom!!
What is that all about???
Dream catchers are an ancient Native American concept, wind chimes Chinese - so how/why do these to aspects of religions half a world apart come together??
To make money selling to idiots - that's how, is one view, another is a total disrespect of another's faith with the same outcome - to make money.
Nothing magical at all.

As I said, I had a pet pebble once.....

Susan10146857 Report 16 Jun 2013 22:32

I think you could be right Kitty ....nods even wiselier

No chance of that Nolls :-D

Nah was far to well thought out to be children

maggie you are soooooo cynical :-D

Definitely fascinating NS

my Georgies Kennel club name is Dreamcatcher

I think they must have done it overnight cos they weren't there the week before......I was just intrigued that someone would have gone to so much trouble......I think it looked quite nifty least it must have got some locals talking. :-D

~Lynda~ Report 17 Jun 2013 08:41

I reckon it's the men in white coats, seeing who takes notice of the feathers and twigs, they are looking for customers, seems like they have found a right one ;-)

Morning :-D

JustJohn Report 17 Jun 2013 09:47

I had a lovely dream last night. I wonder if these twigs and feathers caught it :-S :-)

KittytheLearnerCook Report 17 Jun 2013 10:13

Woods are wonderful, full of miniature worlds we know hardly anything about.

Trees, undergrowth, fungi and minibeasts everywhere all living their lives in harmony until we human enter their world and tread on them! :-(
