No, I didn't have anybody in mind.

I don't really know who is who, apart from one or two who I either correspond with by e-mail or on Facebook.

I was thinking about the social club we use and whether I enjoy it enough, especially after the run in with the woman last night, to be bothered to renew my membership this year.

It made me realize how little I get involved with things and how easily I walk away.

Boy, I must be missing out on a lot!

GR is really pretty tame for banning compared to what FR's associated site Connections used to be like from about 2007 to 2010.

People were actually encouraged to use aliases ................ so you can imagine that trolls abounded.

Membership was free on Connections (just as it is on FR now), and quite a few people would have 2 or 3 "memberships". Only one of those memberships would be a "nice person", their alter egos would be nasty as nasty could be! And they could post on the same thread, at the same time.

so you would get a "nice" comment, immediately followed by the "troll" comment.


They also had live Chat Rooms ................. I never went into those, but I heard some horror stories.


But banning was the joke of the site.

That site was actually one of the reasons why I was very slow at beginning to use General Chat on here ................ I'd look on Chat, and think I could get into even worse trouble than on FR!

Never been banned.

Only been RR'd once. I'm sure GR would have reinstated my post but the thread was deleted. Hysterical, frothing at the mouth RR's usually result in reinstatement.

In the very early days there were some seriously strange people on here. GR weren't very good at dealing with them then. Come to think of it, they aren't a lot better now. Members can see what's going on but GR choose to remain in blissful ignorance.

We all got "banned" for a while when GR closed the boards.

And it came close when we discovered colours.

I must have lived through all these things but I didn't even notice them.

It's true. I do live my life with my head up my bum.

There must be so much going on in other places that I have never noticed too.

'Banns' are an announcement in church of your intention to marry and a chance
for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place.

But bans are an entirely different thing.

One can be particularly unpleasant for some. The other one not.

Ban both.
