Chris
I do hope your infection clears soon.
I'm lucky in that my living room is cool so if I just open the the windows it is comfortable.
It's currently 23 outside and 25 inside and just very pleasant after our rain earlier.

Barbara - you are so right. I certainly wouldn't attempt to work outside in very high temperatures. Madness :-0 :-0 :-0

If you have fans going hang a few wet towels in the path of the blowing air ,it will help cool the air down quicker as fans only blow the warm air about after a while,,,,,also it helps put moisture back in the air and helps the leaking skin and breathing , :-D.

What heat-wave ?...it's beautiful and sunny but sea mist :-(

Red Arrows at Sunderland air show were cancelled last night, hope they're flying today as, in past years, they fly over our garden, gotta love the Red Arrows :-D

VW Rally at Tynemouth so fingers crossed the mist doesn't roll in ... but a small penalty for living on a beautiful coastline. :-D

Hope you're feeling a little cooler now Chris

Still cooking today - tomorrow supposed to down a degree in the sunny south.

When we lived in north Hampshire they used to fly over our garden. Son came back from walking dog - they had been sat on the top of a hill watching the Arrows practise.

It is a wonderful sight.

At night, fill a hot water bottle with cold water.
Doesn´t stay cold for long, but it helps.

Place a bowl of water with ice cubes in it in front of the fan. And the old one which works - hold inside of wrists under cold tap for about 5 minures.

I want the heat (which we haven't had for very long in Wales) to continue as long as possible.

My joints ease up so the pain isn't as bad and my hands are much improved. Now if only I had an outdoor pool I would be really happy :-D

There is no pleasing us all though.

I don't mind the heat - but the humidity is a killer!
We had a 20 minute monsoon in Marlborough yesterday, but, apparently, in Winchester it just drizzled.

Rollo, what do you mean, no snow in the Shetlands?
I got snowed in once, in Lerwick. About 3 foot of snow fell in half an hour. One taxi in the whole of the Shetlands had snow tyres on (regular 'wear' for most tyres in the winter).
We spent the night in a police cell, himself got a lift in a works van the next morning, to his place of work, I had a 14 mile walk home. It took me 5 hours.
As for no mad ponies, 'Shoopies' (Shetland ponies) are vicious, unpredictable buggers, and the sheep may be small, but they can run fast, and have hard heads and horns
:-|

New Forest ponies, cows donkeys and pigs are cute and cuddly by comparison.

Well I just looked at the forecast for next week (from 2nd August) as we are going to Derbyshire to a cottage in the country. It's supposed to rain every day! The only consolation is that the forecast is the same for here where I live so we won't be missing anything better and the garden will get watered.
I was so looking forward to wandering about in my shorts!

Lizxx

Have to admit I have enjoyed the hot weather as it helps my joints feel better but it does take it out of you too.

It's still hot here in Yorkshire.

I do get up at 5am and try to get some small jobs done but I can't breathe even while doing a small job.

Have to use my inhalers even in the house because I can't breathe even with fans blasting away.
