We are looking for our "estranged" grandchildren, Jake, 23, Natalie, 21. Chloe 20 and Rachel, 19. Their surname at the time they were adopted was Way, or Bowers. We desperately want to be reunited. They were adopted about ten years ago and were living somewhere on the Wirral. They originally lived in Macclesfield, Cheshire. We would be be over the moon to find out how they are now and to know they are okay. We don't remember the last name they were adopted. Please help us find our Grandchildren.

Jake Christopher Way/Bowers - 1993
Natalie Louise Way/Bowers - 1995
Chloe Rachel Way/Bowers - 1996
Rachel Sarah Way/Bowers - 1997

Try searching for them (Way & Bowers) and their birth parent's names on this site and contact any tree owner.
Make sure they are on your tree as well. Even if you allow your sub to lapse (never delete your account) if they come looking for birth family, they can still contact you by clicking on your name. You do have to make sure that the linked email address is always current.

You could also register with the Adoption Contact Agency and hope they have too
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

Did their mother marry? They may have been adopted by their stepfather. Look for electoral roll listings for the birth mother and any further partners

Thank You, The kids Mother past away a few years ago, Their dad and mother were not married. We can find 2 birth certificates for them, the original is with the Dad's last name Way and the second one is with their mother's last name Bowers.. All We know is that they did not change their first names, But my friends can't remember their adopted last name.
They have also registered at the Adoption Contact Agency.
It is easy to find their adopted last name? how can we do it?

It might be worth checking Facebook as one or more of them could be on it. Also Twitter.

We have tried all ways, facebook, and other social media, We don't know the Adopted family name =( We only know their biological parents last names

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Jul 2016 12:11

They'd be the same birth certificate but with 2 entries to reflect the parent's different surnames.

If you were to look at your own, it would give
First names
Name of father
Name of mother and any previous surname she declared.

So plucking names out of a hat
Sarah Jane, father John Davis, mother Daisy Davis formerly Green
Would be indexed as
Davis, Sarah Jane mmn Green

If Daisy and John didn't carry the same surname ie weren't married to each other, their child would be entered ON THE INDEX twice
Davis, Sarah Jane mmn Green
Green, Sarah Jane mmn Green.

Which every combination of surnames you used to order a certificate, the same one would be issued.
...........

Not sure how you could find the children now their surname has been changed. Have you tried to trace their Aunts or Uncles in case the children were taken in by family?
Althernatively, you could contact the Social Services who arranged the adoption. Although they won't tell you their new surname,. they or a hired intermediary might be able to trace them.

Try typing in:

Jake Bowers, Macclesfield

There's one in the right age group on the 2012-2013 Electoral Roll there (with a Deboarah B too).

Try the same with Rachel Bowers.

It'll give you a different surname but read down to the bottom.

I didn't try the Way alternative because I figured that if their mother had died and they had been adopted while their Dad was still alive, the children might have decided to go with Bowers (the mother's surname).

Good luck with the electoral rolls.

ale Report 2 Jul 2016 13:50

Way is the children's dad surname, Bowers was the children's Mother surname.
After they were adopted by a couple on the Wirral area, They change their surname, but not their Christian names..

What we are trying to find out is their adopted surname.
Jake Christopher ? - 1993
Natalie Louise ? - 1995
Chloe Rachel ?- 1996
Rachel Sarah ? - 1997

Ale, they are older now and one or more may have reverted to the Bowers surname.

Unless, of course, you have another Jake Bowers and a Rachel Bowers in the family in the Macclesfield area?

The Rachel I mentioned above was living at the same address in 2014-2016 as a man with the same surname but if you read to the bottom you'll see that a Rachel Bowers was living at the same address in previous years. I thought she may have adopted the new surname as the guy there or married him.

JoyLouise There is a Jake Bowers on FB that matches the details you found on electoral roll, he does have some of the right first names in his friends list, but there are birthday wishes on their which do not match the birth qtr. So I think discount that one.

edit he's a different birth year also, mother and father on friends list.

Are the grandparents seeking the children the father or mother's parents?
Would the other grandparents perhaps know more or still have some contact?

If not already done, put the birth parent's name/s on a tree here so that if the children look they can make contact.

ale Report 2 Jul 2016 15:42

Grandparents names ; Rita and Stuart Way
Dad name: Christopher Way

Sarah Bowers was the Mother of the children and she passed away few years ago..
Her mother Angie also.
The Children were taken by social services from their mother.

Assuming the surname has been changed by adoption, then there is no way you can discover it by yourselves.

If other family members don't know what became of them, the only solution is to tell the grandparents to contact Social Services and ask for them to help.

Choccy, just to clarify, that's not the young man in the wedding photo is it? That's the one I discounted, his father and mother both on friends list/

Try a email/letter or call to the Local Wirral News/Wirral Globe if you know all the children were adopted together someone may recognise them by the first names, school friends may recall a sibling group,as they are close together in age. neighbours etc.

The paper does have a letters page and is delivered free to most homes on the Wirral.

Also try Wiki Wirral.co.uk you have to register free, then can post details.
