So did my Gran Von, my mother's Mum from Kent originally.

She had a big cupboard with black painted doors full of home made jams wines chutneys etc

I remember she made dandelion wine, parsnip wine among others

I was given butter and sugar the 4 months I was ill with whooping cough as I had problems keeping normal food down with the coughing.

My Great Aunt was very ill when she was little and it was touch and go. Her mother was told to feed her loads of eggs each day.
She lived until she was nearly 97

My OH lived at the bottom of the castle esplanade in Edinburgh. His mother used to wrap jam sandwiches in a bread wrapper and hurl them out of the window to him playing below :-D :-D :-D

My big brother used to help himself to spoonfuls of sugar from the sugar bowl :-0 :-D

There were some really bad stuff about then :-(
My Uncle died of TB at 18. My Aunt nearly died of diphtheria :-(

I remember when Heinz Sandwich Spread came out. I used to like that.
And it makes a nice dressing for potato salad

The Darlinks don’t have sugar on anything...they don’t drink any fizzy drinks., butPrince has a love of salt...and has to be watched at mealtimes

I remember my mum saving the bread wrappers for wrapping sandwiches...it’s funny the things you forget :-D :-D
